13. Lennox
Adult (2 years 2 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 1 mi from Harrisburg

Hi, I'm Lennox!
I started out as a very scared boy, but once I realized I was safe, I discovered something important: I really, really like people. These days, I’m a certified snuggle bug who would much rather be hanging out with my favorite human than doing anything else.
I’m happiest when I’m following my foster Mom around to see what she’s up to. When she settles down I’m right there with her, usually curled up on her lap or stretched out on her chest. I do enjoy playing, but honestly, being close to my person is my favorite activity.
I also like other cats and enjoy having feline friends around.
Read more about Lennox
I’m still working on my cat-to-cat social skills, though. Sometimes I get so excited about making friends that I forget to pay attention to the other cat’s hints that they need a little space. I occasionally earn myself a swat for being a bit too enthusiastic, but I’m a friendly guy who is still learning the rules of cat etiquette.
I’ve also spent some time around a dog. I wasn’t particularly interested in becoming best friends with the dog, but I was able to avoid them without any drama. So a calm, respectful dog may be okay with me, but I’m definitely more interested in my human than in making friends with the canine members of the household.
My ideal home is one where I can have a person to follow around, a comfortable lap to curl up on, and plenty of opportunities for snuggles. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who wants to be wherever you are, I think we could be a pretty great match.
He is FIV/FELV negative, spayed and up to date on vaccines. If you're interested in a furever companion, please apply at www.castawaycritters.org/adopt.

14. Vinnie
Young (1 year 4 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: May 20, 2025
Vinnie is a connoisseur when it comes to nature! He was found around October of 2025, and the sneaky little guy managed to evade capture until July of 2026 - 9 whole months! A TNR group managed to snatch the devious devil and fixed him, but to their surprise, he was incredibly happy to be around them! You would think a cat who eluded people at every turn would not enjoy their presence, but au contraire! He loved the attention and affection he received, and his rescuers thought he would be an excellent pet for someone.
Read more about Vinnie
Vinnie could entice anyone. He has the most beautifully striped tabby markings and a petite figure. To tie his look all together, his green eyes can enchant anyone. He might be a bit cautious and curious around new people, but he definitely has a soft spot for humans. He's been known to follow his foster around the house when she is doing chores. He even has a sense of comradery with his own kind. His interest and fondness towards other cats could make him a great friend if you have a kitty at home who needs a buddy! He's probably the most tolerant cat you'd ever lay your eyes on. He doesn't mind getting his nails trimmed or ears cleaned, and he's very cooperative and calm with his vet appointments.
When it comes to attention, Vinnie will do anything for it. He enjoys endless chin rubs, head scratches, and human touch. If he knows you're coming over to give him some pets, he'll instinctively flop over onto his side! He'll initiate gentle headbutts when he's feeling loved, and he can't wait for you to brush him! The only other thing that can beat all this attention is food! He's a highly food-driven kitty. He's come to respond to his name whenever you call for him. While he's still learning how to play, he has a favorite toy - the fish on a stick! If there isn't a person nearby or toys aren't catching his attention, he'll sit by a window and get totally entranced by the wildlife activity!
Because he was living outside, at some point, Vinnie contracted FIV. While this does weaken his immune system, it doesn't mean his life has been cut down. In fact, many FIV+ cats have gone on to live a long and fulfilling life just like their healthy counterparts. With regular vet checkups and a healthy lifestyle, Vinnie can bring you many years of happiness and some laughs! Since Vinnie is such a catch, his foster is willing to pay the adoption fee for anyone who wants this sweet boy in their home!
Vinnie's adoption donation includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.

15. Snowball
Adult (4 years 11 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 1 mi from Harrisburg

Meet Snowball
Snowball is a sweet, sassy white kitty with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This affectionate little love bug has been through more than her share of challenges, but she continues to seek out comfort, companionship, and cozy places to snuggle.
Her Story
Snowball first came to the rescue very sick and pregnant. The stress and illness were too much for her, and she sadly lost her kittens. She remained ill for a long time and was eventually diagnosed with severe allergies that affect her eyes, nose, and occasionally her gums, while also making her very itchy.
She also arrived with stomatitis, a painful gum disease that led to the removal of all her teeth. Even so, Snowball has adapted well and still enjoys dry food.
Personality and Favorite Things
Despite everything she has endured, Snowball is full of affection. She loves to snuggle under blankets, nap beside her person, make biscuits on soft bedding, and nuzzle or rub up against you for attention.
She has a playful side, especially after a good nap, and enjoys using scratching posts or cardboard scratching pads. She is the perfect mix of cozy companion and spirited little character.
Care Needs
Read more about Snowball
Snowball requires daily allergy medicine, which is easiest to give in wet food.
She needs regular cleaning around her eyes, nose, and ears, as her allergies can cause crustiness even with medication.
She may be a little sassy during medicine time or grooming, so patience and gentle handling are important.
She needs an adopter who can provide attentive care and help keep her fluffy white fur clean and shiny.
Ideal Home
Snowball tolerates other cats but would prefer to be the only cat in the home. With the right patient and understanding adopter, she may eventually open up to a housemate or another animal friend.
Her ideal home is calm, loving, and patient, with someone who can give her the daily care she needs and the affection she deserves. In return, Snowball will reward her person with snuggles, biscuits, nuzzles, and plenty of love.If you think you are the right person to rescue this cute lovable white kitty, please complete an adoption application on our website. Snowball is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV/FELV. 16. Simba
Young (2 years 8 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: January 13, 2024
Simba is a true warrior with a heart of gold. Before being saved by a kind rescuer, Simba spent months locked outside by his previous owners, left to fend for himself in the freezing snow. Yet, when you look into his gorgeous eyes, you won't see any bitterness - only a resilient boy who has chosen nothing but love, gratitude, and deep affection for the humans who care for him.
Read more about Simba
Once Simba knows he is safe, he transforms into the ultimate companion. He is an incredibly loyal boy who forms deep bonds with his chosen person. He will follow you from room to room, chat with you using his wonderful, expressive vocabulary, and happily curl up right next to you on a chair or the couch for a long cuddle session. While he prefers cuddling next to you rather than sitting directly on your lap, he absolutely loves to be picked up and hugged, where he will happily purr like a little engine and gently lick your fingers to show his appreciation.
Because of his past abandonment, Simba has a few charming, unique quirks that his future family should know and love:
- The Ultimate Dinner Date: Simba loves human company so much that he currently prefers his trusted person to hold his dish or sit right by him while he eats.
- A Calm Sanctuary: Simba can be shy around new people or in loud environments. If a stranger enters the room, he prefers to tuck himself safely under a blanket on the couch until he knows the coast is clear. However, once he bonds with you, he completely blossoms - he wants to be right out in the open, handing around you and playing happily in your plain sight!
- Spirited Play: Simba loves to play, but he can be a little rough when he gets excited. If he is petted a bit too roughly or in a sensitive spot, he may turn and give a minor play-bite. He is looking for a cat-savvy owner who can read his body language, keep play sessions structured with his toys, and help him learn gentle boundaries.
- Other Animals: Simba was briefly introduced to other cats behind a pet gate and showed zero hostility or hissing! However, he would do best in a home that can manage slow, proper introductions or excel as your one-and-only king of the castle.
- Indoor Sanctuary & Collar Quirks: Simba is microchipped by LCCR, and because of his history of neglect outside, he must remain a strictly indoor-only cat where he will always stay safe, warm, and protected. His future family should also know that he is a bit of a clever escape artist with collars! He has been taking his off lately, so his collar will need a careful adjustment to ensure a safe, snug fit, or his home can choose to rely primarily on his microchip.
- Menu & Litter Preferences: To keep his stomach happy and his transition seamless, Simba has a set routine he thrives on! He does wonderful on Science Diet Indoor Adult dry cat food, and his absolute favorite treat is wet food - he gets half a can of Friskies pate or meaty bits twice a day. When it comes to his bathroom habits, he is fully litter trained and is very accustomed to using Fresh Step cat litter.
Simba's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.

17. Mabel
Adult (1 year 7 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 1 mi from Harrisburg

Mabel would do best in a home with adults only or with older children as an only pet. She does currently reside in foster with other cats in the house but she gets stressed when they get too close. When she is the star of the show, she is happy, playful, and snuggly with her person. She was unfortunately left behind when her owner got evicted from their apartment and a kind neighbor brought her in. In the short few days that she was outside, she got pregnant. Mabel has since been spayed and is learning how to trust again after a confusing time for her. Are you willing to open up your home and heart to this sweet girl who deserves another chance with a family?

19. Fiorella
Young (2 years 3 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: July 9, 2024
Fiorella may be petite, but this little girl has a BIG personality! Sweet, social, vocal, and full of energy, she's ready to find her person and start the next chapter of her life.
Fiorella came from a hoarding situation where the landlord said all of the cats had to leave. She was used to living around a large number of cats and spent much of her time outside. With so many cats in the home, she didn't receive much individual human interaction, but she's quickly discovering how wonderful it is to have people all to herself.
Read more about Fiorella
Even during her time at the house, Fiorella found little ways to enjoy life. One of her favorite things was sitting in the windows, watching the world go by. Now that she's getting the chance to experience life in a safe and loving environment, she's discovering so many more things to enjoy.
Fiorella can be a little skittish when she first meets someone, but give her a little time and she warms up quickly. Once she feels comfortable, her sweet and social personality shines through. She loves attention and enjoys being petted—and if she's really happy, you'll see her adorable prancing biscuits as she kneads away while standing!
Fiorella is also discovering the joys of being a playful cat. She's energetic, curious, and having fun learning what all those wonderful toys are for. She loves to run and play and would likely do best with a playful feline companion who can keep up with her and provide her with a buddy for all her adventures.
And when it comes to food, Fiorella has absolutely no intention of being subtle! She is a very enthusiastic eater and will make sure you know when it's mealtime. Her excitement over food is just another part of her adorable personality.
Fiorella would not do well with young children. She would be best suited to a home with older, respectful children who understand how to interact gently with a cat and give her the time she needs to feel comfortable.
This petite girl has so much love and personality waiting to be shared. She's spent much of her life surrounded by cats but without much individual attention from people. Now she's ready to discover what it's like to have a family of her own—a person who will give her attention, play with her, appreciate her happy prancing biscuits, and make sure she always has a cozy window where she can watch the world go by.
Fiorella is looking forward to finding her person. Could that be you?
Fiorella's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.

23. Catalina
Young (1 year 8 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: January 1, 2025
Catalina is a sweet, energetic girl with a playful spirit who is learning that life can be so much more than simply surviving.
Catalina came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation that was discovered after her owner passed away. More than 40 cats and kittens were left behind in a home that was quickly becoming unlivable and heavily infested with fleas. After such a difficult start, it's understandable that Catalina is still very skittish and unsure of people. She's going to need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time—but once she gives you her heart, you'll discover just how special she is.
Read more about Catalina
Catalina absolutely loves to be petted. Getting her to purr is the key to winning her over! Once you get those purrs started, she doesn't want the attention to stop. She may be nervous at first, but those happy purrs are a wonderful reminder of the sweet, affectionate cat hiding underneath her initial shyness.
Catalina is also discovering the joys of being a playful cat. She's energetic, curious, and having fun learning what all those wonderful toys are for. She enjoys chasing after her feline friends and has plenty of energy to burn. One of her favorite activities is simply running laps around the room, because sometimes a girl just needs to zoom!
And then there's wet food. Catalina LOVES wet food. In fact, if she thinks everyone else is getting some and she's being left out, she'll go absolutely ballistic to make sure you know about it! She has no trouble making her opinions known when something important—like dinner—is happening.
Catalina does well with her cat friends and enjoys having them around for playtime and companionship. A feline friend may be especially helpful as she continues building confidence and learning that her new world is safe.
Because Catalina is still very skittish and learning to trust, she needs a calm home without young children. She would do best with older, respectful children ages 13 and up who understand that she may need time to feel comfortable and will allow her to approach at her own pace.
Catalina will need someone who is willing to be patient and let her progress at her own pace. She may not be the cat who runs up to greet you on day one, but earning her trust will be incredibly rewarding. Every purr, every request for pets, and every playful zoom around the room is a little glimpse of the wonderful cat she's becoming.
Catalina has so much potential. She's just waiting for the right person to give her the time, patience, and love she needs to discover it.
Her adoption donation is $135 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.

24. Milo K
Young (2 years 3 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: July 6, 2024
Meet Milo K, a charmer with a big personality, playful spirit. You would never guess from his happy go lucky personality that Milo didn't have the easiest start. He appeared at his fosters house in less than stellar condition with a significant skull compression, badly damaged teeth, and a heart murmur. The good news is all those troublesome teeth are gone (no dental bills in his future) and his heart murmur needs to be monitored with an occasional visit to the heart specialist right now.
Read more about Milo K
Yes, Milo is a special needs kitty, and he'll need a family committed to his ongoing care. But don't let that overshadow everything else he brings to the table: fun, affection, endless entertainment. Milo loves to play and would play all day if he could chasing toys and wrestling with a feline friend. He will squeeze in time to rub against your legs and soak up some affection. Milo needs a home with another young playful kitty who can keep up with his enthusiasm.
Milo has already overcome plenty and he's not about to let a few medical challenges get in the way of enjoying life.
If you have a playful young kitty looking for a best friend and room in your heart for a very special boy, Milo K. might just be your perfect match.
Loving Care Care Rescue is willing to discuss financial assistance after adoption due to this kitty's special needs. More details will be discussed upon interest of the cat.
Milo's adoption donation is $90 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.

25. Sakina
Young (2 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: July 8, 2024
Sakina is a sweet, shy girl with a gentle heart who is slowly discovering just how wonderful it feels to be loved.
Sakina came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation that was discovered after her owner passed away. More than 40 cats and kittens were left behind in a home that was quickly becoming unlivable and heavily infested with fleas. After such a difficult beginning, Sakina is now learning that people can be kind and that she never has to go without love and attention again.
Read more about Sakina
Sakina is still shy and cautious, but she's making progress every day. When she becomes comfortable with someone, she'll come over seeking attention and happily accept pets. She has the cutest little habit of circling around while she's being petted, as if she wants to make sure you don't miss a single spot!
And when Sakina gets really happy, she does something absolutely adorable that I call her “prancing biscuits.” Instead of making biscuits while sitting or lying down, Sakina stands up and moves her front feet back and forth like she's kneading an invisible blanket. It's her very special way of showing just how happy she is.
It's obvious that Sakina has been starved for attention, and now that she knows how wonderful it feels, she's determined to soak up every bit she can get. She's especially enthusiastic about wet food. When she sees her meal being prepared, she'll excitedly jump right onto the table to make sure she doesn't miss out!
Sakina does well with other cats and is comfortable living alongside feline companions. She hasn't shown much interest in playing with them yet, but she may simply need more time and confidence before that playful side comes out.
Because Sakina is still learning to trust and can be easily overwhelmed, she would not do well in a home with young children. She needs a calmer environment with older, respectful children, ideally ages 13 and up, who will understand that earning her trust takes time.
Sakina isn't looking for a busy or chaotic household. She's looking for someone patient who will appreciate the little victories—the first time she approaches you, the first happy circle around your legs, and especially the first time you see those adorable prancing biscuits.
She has so much love waiting to come out. All she needs is someone willing to give her the time and kindness to let it happen.
Sakina's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.

26. Dahlia
Adult (4 years 6 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: March 1, 2022
Dahlia is a sweet and shy girl with a heart full of love who is just waiting for someone patient enough to help her feel safe.
Dahlia came from a hoarding situation where the landlord ultimately said all of the cats had to leave. She was used to living around a large number of cats and spent much of her time outside, where she didn't receive much individual human attention simply because there were so many cats needing care. It's easy to see that Dahlia desperately wants to be loved—she's just a little scared and isn't quite sure how to ask for it yet.
Read more about Dahlia
Once Dahlia feels comfortable with you, you'll discover an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl. She loves being petted, and when she's excited for attention, she'll happily circle around you while making biscuits. Those little moments are a glimpse of the loving companion she can become once she knows she is safe.
Dahlia isn't a fan of being picked up right now. She needs to establish trust with her person before she's comfortable being handled that way. With time, patience, and a strong bond, we believe she may eventually tolerate being picked up, but that's something that needs to happen on her terms and at her own pace.
Dahlia would do best in a calm home without young children. Older, respectful children may be a good fit as long as they understand that Dahlia needs patience and gentle interactions. She needs someone who will never rush her and who understands that earning a frightened cat's trust can be one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable.
Dahlia may take a little time to come out of her shell, but once she trusts you, you'll be rewarded with a super sweet, lovey girl who is more than ready to make up for all the attention she missed. Her excited circles, happy biscuits, and desire for pets are little signs that her affectionate personality has been there all along.
All Dahlia needs is someone willing to see past her fear and give her the time she deserves. Give her patience, kindness, and a safe place to call home, and Dahlia will give you something incredibly special in return—the trust and love of a cat who finally knows she's safe.
Dahlia's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.

27. Ruthie
Adult (4 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Meet Ruthie! This adorable lady was hanging around a horse barn, charming everyone with her friendly ways, rolling over and giving everyone leg rubs and head butts. A foster mom who frequented the barn took her in, figuring she would be a perfect cat for someone. At first, Ruthie didn't know what to make of her new environment since this was obviously the first time she was in a house. She cowered and hid. But eventually, she learned that four walls, a ceiling, litter boxes and the comfort of indoor temperatures was a good thing. And now she is back to her old self, rolling over and giving leg rubs and head butts to her foster parents. She flips super fast to give you access for belly rubs. She also has discovered the joys of sleeping in a bed next to her foster parents...and of course they don't mind that either.
Read more about Ruthie
Ruthie has such a unique coloring (almost patchwork orange and grey tabby) and a human-like face perfect for social media! Ruthie doesn't mind being the only kitty, but her foster parents have found she really seems to enjoy the presence of other friendly and playful kitties. Engaging and friendly kitties help her keep active, otherwise she seems content to perch herself and watch the environment. She doesn't mind being picked up and transported from one place to another in the house, especially if that is followed by pets and scratches. Her foster parents are working on her tolerance for being held on laps. But she doesn't mind laying down next to you. She has never experienced toys before, and her foster parents are working on getting her to learn to lunge after such things as feather wands--right now, she is content to just watch them with great fascination. Her foster parents are sure in a bigger environment, she will be a proficient toy player.
Ruthie apparently had not such great experiences with dogs as she hisses and lunges and swats at the resident dog, so a dog-free home is important to her. She would make a great companion for someone in an apartment or anyone looking for a calm pet.
Ruthie was born around July 2022 and is currently living in a foster home in New Cumberland. Her adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing (negative), microchip, and spay.

29. Penny
Young (2 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Medium Hair (medium coat) · 2 mi from Harrisburg

Birthday: June 21, 2024
Penny is a sweet dilute tortoiseshell cat with lovely green eyes and small stature. When she was brought to LCCR, she went to a foster home with a mother and her 9-year-old child. She quickly adapted to the new living arrangement and adored being doted on. She then moved to a different foster, where she is currently residing.
Read more about Penny
Penny has found all sorts of interests during her stay! Her favorite toys are shoe strings and toy mice that rattle. She absolutely loves any and all attention, especially neck scratches and full body pets! Giving her pets in just the right spot on her back or chest will have her giving you kisses all throughout. This sweet girl will prioritize love and pets over food any day. She's even willing to ignore a freshly filled food bowl to get some attention from you! Penny does love to scratch and has come to use her flat cardboard scratcher most frequently over her vertical scratching posts. She would love to have several of them available throughout her new home to promote good scratching habits!
She is good with children, always gentle. Penny may be extra shy around new adult men, but with a little patience, she will come around. Although she has not spent long periods of time with other cats and dogs, the times that she has been exposed to them she has appeared completely unbothered, if not curious.
Penny's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.

Why adopt an adult cat in Harrisburg
An adult cat's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are used to family life.
Grown cats are calmer and need less supervision than kittens, which suits people who work long hours or have young children.
