3. Licorice
Kitten (3 months 26 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 10 mi from New Hope

Licorice was rescued as a stray kitten from Philadelphia with her siblings. She is very sweet and loves to play. Licorice has been spayed, received her 1st FVRCP vaccine, has been dewormed, tested negative for feline leukemia but positive for FIV and microchipped. Her siblings tested positive for FIV too so this means that they are carrying the antibodies from their FIV positive mother. It takes about 6 months for the antibodies to go away so they will have to be retested at that time. At this point they should test negative, keep in mind they are just testing positive because they have the antibodies from the mom not the actual virus. To adopt Licorice please complete the online application at www.fourthepaws.org or you can see her at the Newtown Petsmart adoption center located at 2600 S Eagle Rd. Her adoption fee is $75.

5. Terran
Adult (1 year 6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from New Hope

We think Terran is somewhere between one and two. This guy ended up getting caught during a trapping job we were doing. We asked the people in the neighberhod if he was anyone's cat, and no one claimed him, so we are going to get him a great home. He's a happy, talkative, affectionate guy who loves people. What more could you want ?

7. Jaspurr
Adult (2 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from New Hope

Japurr was quiet when he first came into our care now he is a purring machine. He's very small for a boy kitty. Jaspürr was found all alone, scared and hungry in a park in Trenton. The vet estimated him to be around 2 yrs old. Jaspürr has a playful and intense personality, once you gain his trust. It took a few weeks to do this, but now he really likes and looks for his humans/fosters. He is fast to explore his surroundings, jumping/climbing everywhere at his own pace. Jaspürr truly, carefully observes and learns about his humans with those bright eyes of his, you can almost see his brain trying to understand his humans’ actions. He has a soft meow, sounds almost like a baby. Jaspürr is very shy at first and it can take a few days for him to warm up (like most cats). Once he trusts you, he loves to lay by your side, rub his head on your hands and being brushed all over. He does not mind being held for a few minutes, best if wrapped on a blanket/towel. Jaspürr loves cat toys and scratching cat trees. So far, we don’t know how he relates to other cats because the resident cat in his foster home isn't interested in other kitties. Jaspürr likes sunning and looking out of windows for hours, happily watching birds/squirrels/clouds. Please consider giving this sweet boy a forever home

10. Clarendon FIV+
Adult (4 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from New Hope

Our adorable boy Clarendon is around four years old. Look at this cute face? How can anyone resist this guy. He was found outside and we're not sure who his family was. He's a big, calm , quiet guy who does well with other cats and like people. He is FIV+ and we will say it over and over, FIV is nothing to worry about, it's an immune deficiency, that's it. Clarendon can live with other cats who don't have FIV (he is now), it's not transmissable by anything other than a deep bite wound (he's a lover) , with good normal care, he will live as long as any other cat and does not need extra vet care because he is FIV+. He's a doll and needs someone to love him forever. Could you be his person We hope so !!!!

11. West Darin
Adult (1 year 6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from New Hope

We think West Darin is somewhere between one and two years old. All the sudden he showed up in a feral colony but this dude is super friendly. This is a sure sign that this guy was dumped by his owner and was looking for food. He obviously didn't have the best original owner but we promised him we'd get him a great FOREVER home. He is affectionate and talkative.....and he like other kitties. We hope someone adopts him soon !!!

16. Nigel
Adult (2 years 3 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from New Hope

Meet Nigel: The Gray Gentleman with Plenty to Say
Nigel is a handsome, solid gray boy of about two years old, and he has never met a stranger he didn't like. He wandered into one of our traps during a TNR project in Trenton, hungry and clearly used to people. Someone had cared for him once, and then left him to fend for himself. Nigel doesn’t hold a grudge. He’s affectionate, social, and happy to be around his people.
He’s also a talker. Nigel will tell you about his day, his opinions on dinner, and exactly where he’d like to be petted. If you enjoy a cat who keeps up his end of the conversation, you two will get along.
Read more about Nigel
At two, Nigel is a young cat with a lot of energy and still learning his manners. He loves to play, and he plays enthusiastically, sometimes using his mouth. He’s never aggressive; he’s an excitable young cat who needs to learn what’s okay to chew on. He needs an adopter who will:
Offer lots of interactive play (wand toys, chasers, puzzle feeders) to burn off energy
Redirect mouthy moments to toys instead of hands or feet
Be patient and consistent while he learns
A home with another playful, confident cat could be a great fit, since a furry playmate would give him an outlet for all that energy. He’d thrive in an active household where someone is around to play with him every day.
If you’re looking for a loving, chatty, fun-loving companion and are ready to help a young cat grow into his best self, Nigel is waiting to meet you.

18. Paeonia
Kitten (3 months 27 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from New Hope

Paeonia is a sweet, playful girl with a beautiful mostly-white coat and adorable black markings on her ears. She’s full of personality and loves to have fun, but her favorite way to show affection may be with her wonderfully loud, happy purrs. She likes other kitties and would do well with another kitty and people who want to play with her ! In fact we think she needs another playful cat in her forever home. She'd love to be adopted with another one of our kittens too ! No small kids for her.
Playful, charming, and affectionate, Paeonia would love a home where she can enjoy plenty of attention, playtime, and cozy moments with her people.

20. Maizy
Young (8 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from New Hope

Maizy got really lucky. One of our volunteers was in Trenton, saw Maizy on the street, and scooped her up. This young lady was born in February. She has lots of energy and spends a lot of time bouncing around playing. She warms up to other cats (adults and kittens) after only a short period of adjustment and very much likes the presence of a playful companion. In addition to liking gentle cats, Maizy sees people as playmates and the source of laps and hugs. How Maizy ended up on the street we'll never know. But we know she was loved and had a home at one point. We hope someone adopts her soon! If you'd like to meet this cat or think this cat would be a good match for your family, please complete our adoption questionnaire at http://www.trentoncats.org/adoption-questionnaire/ and let your references know someone will be contacting them soon.

Adopting a cat in New Hope
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
