1. Hazel.
Adult (1 year) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Calico / Mixed (short coat) · 6 mi from Lemon Grove

Meet Hazel!09.15.26we have terrific news! Hazel is officially done with her FIP treatment and she is now up for adoption again! FIP survivor in da house!!! yay!! FIP untreated is deadly. Feline specific and NONE infectious to other cats. its a bit expensive treatment but it's an easy treatment, just lengthy. She was diagnosed and became clinical early June and started her meds MID June. She is now officially DONE with treatment and available for adoption... again! we are so excited for her and we hope she finally finds a wonderful loving home just as she is the most wonderful loving cat. Her foster mom has sent an update and recent pics and videos and this girl is a healthy strong beauty ready to be chosen!
Foster mom notes 9.14.2
Meet Hazel! She is a beautiful and spunky calico who absolutely LOVES her people and has even become quite the social kitty in her foster home, with little to no issues meeting and getting lots of pets from strangers! She definitely prefers to be the queen of her castle (aka a single pet) but will reward you with the best cuddles and lots of affection and purrs.
Read more about Hazel.
Despite her hilarious calico sass, she is incredibly low maintenance, absolutely loves to play fetch or soccer with her many toys, and truly just wants to be someone’s favorite thing. If you’re interested in meeting Hazel, please reach out!Notes: Hazel has no problem giving "kisses" sometimes she approaches your face with strong eye contact and if you are up to it she will definitely give you a gentle smooch on the lip or nose. Also, she has lived not only at her foster moms as a single pet but ALSO at casa de ARWOB off/on as a multi pet house with both many dogs and cats. She is fine with both. She is not Buddy with the dogs and will ignore them or avoid them and cats is personality dependen. Sometimes she will play with another cat but mostly ignores the other cats. Hence, if you are looking for a bud for your car or dog she's likely not the best match. She is mostly focused on people And great match for a home with a single or multiple humans seeking an awesome companion.
8/9/26 - Here is what Hazel's foster family has to say about her:"Hazel has quickly become one of my favorite fosters ever. Not only is she adorable (look at that beautiful coat!!) but she is so incredibly sweet and cuddly. She always wants to be in the same room as me and will follow me around and plop down at my feet or talk to me regardless of what I’m doing. Throughout the day when she wants some cuddles, she’ll walk right into my lap and nuzzle up, preferring to get as close to my face as possible (she’ll even give little affectionate licks and head butts!). Her random bouts of kitten energy will definitely come through every now and then, too, and she loves anything that moves (especially if she can stalk it through her tunnel). She’s got that trademarked calico sass and personality, which makes her so entertaining to have around, and she seems very happy as the only pet in the house. While she still has a bit of stranger danger with people, once she’s around someone for a few minutes, she quickly becomes comfortable. She definitely prefers her people, though, so I’m excited to see her find her family!! Hazel does take meds once a day, which will continue for the next couple months to ensure she’s a healthy kitty, but she’s become a champ in taking them so it’s not been an issue at all. Love this girl so much!!"2/19/26 - Here is what Hazel's foster family has to say about her:"Hazel is such a spunky yet cuddly kitty! Once she's given a minute to acclimate to her surroundings, she is very confident and has that classic kitten curiosity and playfulness. She absolutely loves anything that moves and will choose playtime over treats most days of the week. With each day that passes, she's also becoming more and more of a lap kitty and, when she's not running around finding things to do, she loves nothing more than to cuddle up on your lap while you work or watch tv. 2. Curry
Young (1 year 1 month) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 7 mi from Lemon Grove

Meet Curry!
Curry is an adorable tabby who is fostered along several other foster kitties and doing well. We can however say she probably would enjoy a single cat family or a family with cats who are NOT the bully type as she will not fend them off and will end up being bullied. She is very loving towards people and will seek attention. Excellent litter box maners. This beauty loves to cuddle and play with her toys.

She is spayed fully vaccinated and tested negative for both feline leukemia and FIV. We don't hold adoption events for felines, in order to meet them we must receive a submitted online adoption form. As soon as we receive it we will contact you via text or email to schedule a call. Once we spoken and finished processing the application and spoken about the adoption process if approved we move fwd to schedule a meet and greet where the kitties are fostered. Ideally, the day of adoption is the same day of the meet and greet. Please, DO NOT submit adoption applications if you are NOT ready to schedule a meet and possible adopt within a week of submission as we DO NOT place holds on rescues. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you. Submit applications online at ARWOB.org

3. Moris
Kitten (5 months 15 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 10 mi from Lemon Grove

Meet Max AND Moris!
8/22/26:
These kittens are the absolute best you will ever meet. Period! The point of this story is yes, I may be biased as their foster mom, but I have fostered thousands and all I can say is they ARE the best. NOW, before you fall in love with them, it’s important that you know that the boys are FeLV positive. Yes, we are sad about that, as feline leukemia is a tricky disease. They are strong, healthy, active boys at this time, so we keep looking at them thinking, “are you SURE they are FeLV+ and WHY?!” But it is what it is. FeLV+ kitties are NORMAL cats. The only problem is you do not know if they will have a short life span (usually under 2 years of age) or a normal long life span of 8-16 years.
Read more about Moris
FeLV is not a treatable disease and when and IF they become symptomatic, you will know it’s when the clock is now ticking. We typically do NOT accept FeLV+ kitties, as we would euthanize them, but these babies are young and SO amazing. We think someone needs to luck out and enjoy them, whether that be for a short time or for a LONG time. We hope someone with a strong/kind heart who understands heartache can push through the “potential future” and offer them a beautiful loving safe home and see what destiny has in store. For now, we can say all of their medical has been completed, including being neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. They are currently strong as working horses.
Original Rescue Story:
We wanted to give you the background of their rescue story. Three kittens were found on the side of the road in Tijuana Mexico. Their rescuer took them home when they were only about 2 months old and had them in her small bathroom since her husband does not like cats. She sought help from local rescue groups, but had no luck. Finally a rescue agreed to look at the female named Sweetie, but she did not pass their intake exam because she tested positive for FeLV and was denied entry. This is when ARWOB was contacted. We knew we should take Sweetie and either euthanize her or try to give her a chance for adoption, but we could not send her back to Mexico for a multitude of reasons. When we met her, we agreed to take her and give her a chance since she is SO amazing. We took care of her medical and after a couple of weeks, we requested that the brothers come across the border, knowing that they would likely also test positive for FeLV. Sweetie needed friends, so we couldn’t say no. They have since come across to San Diego and we are so happy they no longer have to live in that itty bitty bathroom they had been in for months. In the meantime, Sweetie thankfully found a foster home and they now want to adopt her! She is safe! Now, we need to find someone just as amazing for the two boys and we hope they luck out in finding a wonderful human because they are fantastic too!
The boys are affectionate, social, and super playful typical kittens. They love to play soccer, fetch, and even parkour! They are VERY friendly to all humans, dogs, and cats. They want to be friends with the other cats, but because they are FeLV+ they are not able to mingle with our other cats. If you have an FeLV+ kitty at home, they would love more friends! However, they do have each other and we have to admit they remind us of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum – we will let you decide who is who when you meet them! LOL! They are totally in synch with each other and absolutely bonded. They find each other all the time by hearing each other purring. When one boy does something, the other boy does it too. There are subtle differences between them: Moris will jump on your lap no problem, while Max will stand on two hind legs and place his front paws on your lap so you can pick him up. For some reason he has not figured that he can just jump up onto your lap. Ha, ha! Max is so funny when he runs like a little puppy for his food bowl. Both boys are typical teenagers (aka FOOD HOUNDS) and the only negative about them both is they nee

5. Sally
Kitten (3 months 5 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 10 mi from Lemon Grove

Meet Sally!
We accepted this cutie in early June 2026 after she was rejected by a local San Diego shelter for being FeLV positive. We were contacted by her rescuer seeking assistance and we took Sally in. We do NOT normally accept FeLV kitties, but this little girl was headed to a cage for life. Her rescuer does not believe in euthanasia and living in a cage is NO life for ANY animal. We initially had thought about euthanizing this little monkey after she experienced a couple days of relaxation and fun at Casa de ARWOB, so that she could at least enjoy life for a while. This is something she had not experienced since she was stuck in a kennel for a month since being rescued.
However, we also wanted to double check the test at the shelter was accurate, after all, its a life or death case.

We are happy to report the IFA specilized test we sent out was NEGATIVE for felv. Whoo Hoo! So excited and happy for this little nugget to be a normal kitten with no impediments to find a forever family. Sally is a runt of her litter she will likely be a petite girl when she is full grown. She is a total tomboy though and she LOVES to jump in the air for her feather wand. Sally is such a love bug. VERY outgoing soical loving and playful. Typical kitten shenanigans. Excellent litter box usage and currently (as of the first of july) fostered in fashion valley as the only pet in the home with a retired senior who adores her and loves the companionship she provides her. Sally can be adopted as the only pet BUT even better in a home with other cats to grow with as friends. She has not had dog exposure but we are sure she would adjust with any cat friendly dog. She can be shy when people come to her foster home to visit BUT with the people she knows she is wonderfull. Her purr motor is strong and loud when she seeks loving. NOTE - Sally is not yet spayed and is scheduled for Monday 7/20 HENCE we require adopters are LOCAL to san diego so they can drop off/pick up to the vet clinic on surgery day (arwob is also able to help with transport) otherwise her blood work, exam etc are all normal and a healthy strong kitten who is now fully vaccinated. Now we have fallen in love with this little beating heart and hence her name is sweetie. She is just a total sweetheart and we are hopeful we can find an adopter or even long term foster. Sweetie arrived ARWOB mid June. Fast forward 3 weeks she is doing AMAZING. For now she is a normal cat, kitten energy and FULL of kitten shenanigans. We have come to know what a loving, social, friendly and playful this cutie can be. She is currently at casa de arwob with lots of dogs and cats hence we DESPERATE to find a foster home with NO cats (unless they too are felv positive) she is staying in one of the bathrooms for 21 hours a day, with 3 play times a day when we put ALL the cats away so she can have the run of the house for couple of hours and RUN and be babied at her heart content but wouldn't it be WONDERFUL if we could find a forever adopter who understand that Felike Leukemia(FeLV) positive kitties are just like any other cat, however, some kitties tend to have a short life span and start declining when they are teenagers and sometimes these felv kitties CAN grow to be senior cats.We just don't know. You can adopt this girl and be heart broken within the year or luck out and have her for 10yrs! If you want to love a sweet kitty and provide her with the best life she can have for as short or long as possible we think you should meet this beauty! She is excellent with dogs and cats but of course she can't be with cats but she would love to be...anyone who have an FELV kitty who would like to adopt her? it is imperative who ever adopts this girl agrees and understands why euthanasia is IMPORTANT to provide quality for life NOT quantity as its important to us she lands with a human who will do right by her and understand there is NO treatment for FELV and when her health starts declining they do right by her. She must be an INDOOR cat for multiple reasons. If you'd like to foster her even for the month of July be it a month or longer we would provide all equipment and care for the medical. We may be able to do a forever foster and keep her under ARWOB for the future medical which we can talk about when talking about the process. We just want her to have an opportunity at life short or long but a happy one. She loves cat toys, mice with little rattle noise, lazer pen, wand toys, watching out the window for sun and birds PLUS her motor is LOUD and her kissy personality (you know the type, they start making muffins and all of the sudden you have a little kissy face on your arm/chin etc ha!)Questions before submitting an application? email or text us and we can schedule a callSubmit an application online at ARWOB.org

7. Monkey
Adult (1 year 3 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 10 mi from Lemon Grove

Meet Monkey!
We accepted this handsome fella in early June 2026 after he had been rejected by a local San Diego shelter for coming in with bloody nasal discharge and an upper respiratory infection (URI). We were contacted by his rescuer seeking assistance and we took him in. This handsome boy never actually had a URI, but he did arrive with a bloody nose which fixed itself by the next day. What was wrong? Who knows, likely during transport he injured his nose in the crate BUT it’s that shelter’s loss since Monkey is SUCH a great boy! Handsome? Check! Sweet and social? Absolutely! Playful? Yup!
Monkey came in with the name Batman, which does suit him with that beautiful mask of his BUT we think he is a total goof ball and hence he is a little Monkey to us.
Read more about Monkey
We can say that he has been a gem from the first day being in quarantine. He is a very clean kitty in his kennel and we did discover he does better with a high-rise litter box versus the normal square plastic ones (just taller sides on the box or normal larger boxes - super easy) By using a high-rise litter box with taller sides, he is very clean and will nicely cover his #2 INSIDE the box.
Monkey is an absolute food hound and he has the smallest, most adorable chirpy meow. He has never been stressed or aggressive around all the foster dogs and cats at Casa de ARWOB. He is very chill around all of them! He will be great addition to a home with multiple cats but would be fine as the only boy too if the home is right and would get a lot of companionship. He is good with dogs as long as they are not too much in his face or try to chase him, which will cause him to get overwhelmed and scared and he will run UP to any high counters or cabinets. The foster puppies love to approach him and lick his face, which he allows with no problem. He is very easy going and loves to nap but also loves to play with the lazer pen, batting around toys and play tag your it with other foster kitties He loves to sit at the window for the sun to hit his face and watch what is going outside.
Monkey will be great in any type of household. He was rescued as a street cat and has been secured inside since he was 6 months old. He has been neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and is up to date on medical. Would you like to meet this handsome gato? Please submit an online application at ARWOB.org for review. We will text or email you to schedule a phone call and get the process started. Meet and greets are scheduled in the 92111 zip code area any day of the week as long as it’s a convenient time for the applicant and the foster.

15. Sophia
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 15 mi from Lemon Grove

Sophia is a tabbico (tabby mixed with calico!) originally rescued in Tijuana. Sophia has been with us off and on since 2021 for no fault of her own. She has unfortunately recently found herself back to us, again for no fault of her own, or her previous parent. She was very loved in her most recent home, and her family has the following to say about her: "[Sophia's] favorite thing to do in the morning is cuddle before eating her breakfast and then watching the birds through the screen door. She is obsessed with catnip and those toys that have the string on them. She really really loves yarn so if you crochet or knit she'll be chasing the yarn around.

She loves to graze on dry kibble and have a fillet as a mid day treat. Her favorite treat is tuna fillet. She's a big tuna girly so caution if you eat canned tuna she will let you know she wants some too! She'll really warm up to you if you feed her those little churu treats. She loves fake grass, it's her favorite place to make biscuits. She can be shy and timid at first. But if you just give her time she really opens up. She likes to hide under beds and tables when she gets scared but just tell her she's okay and she'll come out on her own time. She loves to play with her water bowl so be prepared to step in a few puddles every now and then! And lastly she does not like to be picked up!! (She'll let you know it too)" Sophia is currently recovering from a surgery to remove a Mass Cell Tumor. She will be available for adopting pending her test results and recovery!

Our best guest is he lost his person and was left behind. This poor older gentleman did not have any street survival skills, but smartly found his way to a feeding station. Unfortunately, the other cats rejected him and he was slowly starving to death. When we picked him up he was so hungry, so sweet, so grateful. He's about 11, FIV+, and those eyes? The result of being dangerously thin.

His lashes turned inward and caused repeated infections. But this little champion is being treated and gaining weight every day. ? Sweet Mystery is calm (his foster says hanging out with him feels like the best kind of therapy), loving, dog-friendly, and happy to garden-stroll in a harness. The perfect companion for anyone who's home a lot and ready to be loved unconditionally! A human to call his own, a couch, and a bed is all Mystery needs to be happy. 17. Nova
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 15 mi from Lemon Grove

Nova was found as a stray living on the streets of Los Angeles when she was brought inside by a concerned resident. Shortly after being brought into safety, Nova gave birth to 5 beautiful little kittens! Her caretaker has been helping raise the family with limited resources and did find homes for 3 of the 5 kittens. Now Nova then found placement with her two remaining kittens here at The Cat Lounge Rescue! Since then, both of her kittens have been adopted, but Nova is still looking for her home! Nova was very ready for her independence from her kittens. Now that they have been adopted, she is the star of the show! She wants all the attention and is so incredibly sweet and affectionate. Though she is co-existing in our Lounge, she would prefer to be your on and only princess!

Adult (3 years 1 month) · Male · Siamese (short coat) · 28 mi from Lemon Grove

Meet Skye. This incredibly sweet and humble 3-year-old Siamese boy that has been through more than any cat should. Skye was found in Tijuana, Mexico, curled up on an old sheet, on top of broken concrete and torn-up boxes. Seeing this precious boy trying to find comfort on a pile of rubble absolutely crushed my foster’s heart. She called me, and of course i asked her to take him directly to our vet. Poor Skye was having a hard time breathing, but with proper inhaler for asthma, safety, comfort, a soft places to sleep, and plenty of good food this beautiful boy began to shine.
Siamese cats are known for being incredibly intelligent, social, affectionate, talkative, and deeply bonded to their people.

Skye is looking for a patient, loving home that will give him the time he needs to adjust, feel safe, and learn that he is finally home. Skye is also friendly with other friendly cats and has even done well with dogs! As with any animal, introductions should always be slow, calm, and respectful so everyone has time to adjust. Like every animal we rescue, Skye deserves time, patience, and understanding as he settles into his new life. His story started in Tijuana, but it doesn’t end there. ❤️ We want Skye to know that those lonely days are behind him. We want someone to look into those beautiful eyes and tell him, “You’re home.” If you think Skye could be the boy your family has been waiting for, please consider giving this sweet soul the forever home he deserves. How to adopt from Baja Animal Sanctuary
After viewing our adoptable dogs, the next step would be to submit an application www.bajaanimalsanctuary.org on the dog you're interested in adopting. Once the application is received, it will be reviewed and a volunteer will contact you. We will then make arrangements for you to meet the dog at one of our next Adoption Events. Or, you may drive to our shelter located in Rosarito, Mexico (appointment is required). If after meeting the dog, and it is determined the dog is the right fit, you will begin the adoption as a two-week foster. If after the two weeks, you decide you'd like to keep your new furry friend, a volunteer will come out to your home and finalize the adoption. If for whatever reason during the two weeks you realize the dog is not the right fit, you will be able to bring the dog back to the next Adoption Event and our Business Office will mail you a full refund of the adoption fee. Adoption Fee: $275.00 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccines, and dewormed prior to being put up for adoption. Our dogs are rescues so basic training, including house training, will need to be done by the adopter, unless otherwise stated in the dog's bio. Once you have submitted your application, please be patient for a response. We are currently receiving a high volume of applications, and while we make every effort to respond to all applicants please understand if you don't hear back from us. We are all volunteers and work as quickly as possible to respo

Adopting a cat in Lemon Grove
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
