1. Polly

Senior · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Snowshoe / Mixed · 25 mi from Union City

Princess Polly – A Little Fighter with a Whole Lot of Love to Give Hi, I'm Princess Polly! I've had quite the journey, and there was a time when I almost didn't get the chance to tell my story. But thanks to some pretty amazing people who refused to give up on me, I'm here today! My story began when some wonderful people found me lying outside their front door, barely able to move. They brought me inside and tried to help, but I was very sick. They took me to San Francisco Animal Care & Control (SFACC), where I was rushed to the emergency hospital. It turned out I had diabetes and was suffering from a life-threatening condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Read more about Polly

Thankfully, the doctors stabilized me and started me on insulin. I had a microchip, but sadly, no one came to claim me. And that's when things got really scary. The kind people who found me never forgot about me. They checked with SFACC every single day to see how I was doing. Then came the news no one wanted to hear. If a rescue didn't commit to taking me by the end of the day, I would be euthanized. My finder wasn't about to let that happen without a fight. She reached out to Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue, begging them to help me. They immediately contacted SFACC and asked to review my medical records, which bought me a few precious days. At first, there were concerns that I might need hospice care. But my finder even had her own veterinarian review my records, and the vet believed I had a chance to recover. I was also showing signs of improvement during my time at SFACC. How could anyone give up on me when I was trying so hard to get better? Give Me Shelter decided to give me that chance, and that's how I became Princess Polly! And guess what? Just one week after arriving in foster care, I went to the vet, and my lab values were all within normal range! My blood sugar was still too high, but otherwise, I was doing remarkably well. I wasn't a hospice kitty after all. I was alive, getting stronger, and thriving! I'm one lucky girl to have had so many people advocating for me. Without them, I wouldn't be here today. Now, let me tell you about the real me! I'm a confident, affectionate girl who absolutely loves being loved. Petting is one of my favorite things, and I even have a signature move. When you stop petting me before I'm ready, I'll gently reach out with my paw, grab your hand, and pull it back toward me. That's my way of saying, "Excuse me, I wasn't finished!" It's pretty irresistible, if I do say so myself. I love being part of whatever you're doing, whether that's relaxing on the couch, working at your desk, or just hanging out together. I'm a wonderful companion who enjoys attention, affection, and being close to my people. Now, about my diabetes. I know it might sound intimidating, but I promise I'm a really good patient! I get insulin twice a day, and I'm so easygoing about my injections. I've even worked out a pretty sweet deal with my foster mom. Every time I get my insulin, I get a Churu treat! I know the routine, and I think it's a pretty fair trade. I'm also a champ when it comes to having my blood sugar checked. My foster mom uses a little glucose meter to make sure I'm doing well, and I cooperate like the good girl I am. I do have some funny eating habits. I'm more of a grazer than a finish-my-dinner-in-one-sitting kind of girl. My foster mom is working with me on that because a healthy diet is especially important for my diabetes. I love my treats, especially Churu, dehydrated chicken, and the occasional little bit of crunchy kibble! As for my forever home, I'd be perfectly happy being your one and only princess, but I could also share my kingdom with a mellow kitty friend. I've been through a lot, but none of it has changed my loving personality. I'm a happy, affectionate girl with so much love to give. I just need someone who understands that my diabetes is part of my life and is willing to help me stay healthy. So many people fought to give me a

2. Flemeth

Senior (9 years 5 months) · Female · Tabby (short coat) · 18 mi from Union City

Meet Flemeth!

Flemeth is a beautiful senior girl, approximately 9 years old, with a calm, independent personality and a story of resilience. After her longtime caregiver was displaced, Flemeth was left behind and sadly experienced abuse at the hands of neighbors. Thankfully, she was rescued and brought into our care, where she has been learning what it means to feel safe and loved.

Read more about Flemeth

Flemeth is a gentle, low-maintenance companion who enjoys a peaceful environment and the freedom to do things at her own pace. She expresses affection in her own quiet way, preferring peaceful companionship over constant attention. As she has grown more comfortable in foster care, she has begun accepting gentle pets in her favorite cozy spots and showing increasing curiosity about the people around her. She also enjoys quietly exploring her surroundings, especially when she thinks nobody is watching!

One thing Flemeth absolutely adores is food, especially Churu treats! This sweet, toothless lady can always be persuaded to leave her favorite cozy spot for a tasty treat. She also enjoys the company of other cats and has a playful side that comes out when she feels comfortable.

Flemeth is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will appreciate her independent nature and allow her to build trust at her own pace. She would make a wonderful companion for someone who finds joy in providing a safe, peaceful home and watching a once-frightened cat gradually blossom. After everything she has endured, Flemeth deserves a loving indoor home where she can finally enjoy the comfort, security, and kindness she has always deserved.

Could you be the person who gives Flemeth her happily ever after? Please complete an adoption application with Pink Paws for the Cause to be considered for adopting this special girl!

She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines.

3. Ballpark Frank

Senior · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed · 17 mi from Union City

Everyone loves a Ballpark Frank, and this one comes with extra sweetness! This 12-year-old orange-and-white boy is serving up a generous helping of affection. He loves being petted so much that he may even try to climb onto you when you visit. Why settle for affection on the side when you can have the whole order? Frank has also been showing off quite an appetite at the shelter. A kind Samaritan found him on the street with a mouth injury and brought him to OAS. The injury turned out to be old, and it hasn't dampened his enthusiasm for attention or a good meal. You bring the meals and pets; Frank will bring the love. This sweet senior is ready for a home where he can be someone's favorite Frank!

Read more about Ballpark Frank

Medical details: Ballpark Frank arrived underweight and has an old injury affecting the joint connecting the two halves of his lower jaw, leaving his mouth slightly open and his tongue peeking out. OAS veterinary staff report that he appears comfortable, eats and drinks normally, and does not currently need treatment for the jaw injury. He does have severe dental disease that will require care from an adopter's veterinarian, along with a general health exam to address his weight and senior health needs. Medical information from OAS veterinary staff will be shared with anyone interested in adopting Frank so they can make an informed decision about his care.

5. Mack

Senior · Male · Siamese / Snowshoe / Mixed · 16 mi from Union City

Mack is affectionate, calm, loves to chill with his people, sleep on the bed next to you, and generally lounge around, though he can occasionally go bonkers playing with his favorite toys (catnip toys and feathered mice and wands). He can be alone for several hours, is quiet throughout the night, tends to follow when called with "come," and loves to be called "you're a good boy.” Mack loves to be brushed, especially gentle strokes on his cheeks from front to back, and to watch birds and squirrels from a comfy spot. Mack was adopted as a very young cat by the prior owner when he walked onto the school grounds where she worked.

Read more about Mack

He lived with two adult cats for about four years until they moved away and then with one young cat for about seven years until that cat passed away in October 2025. We adopted Mack through private rehoming when the prior owners moved away. Even though Mack lived with other cats in his prior family, we’ve been unsuccessful in getting Mack to accept our other cat, which is much smaller and more active. As our other cat is not a good candidate for adoption, we unfortunately need to find a good home for Mack. Mack is a very good cat who would do best in a quiet, loving, stable home, ideally with no other cats, or possibly with another cat of similar size and temperament. He also needs an experienced cat person who can read his body language and meet his needs, which can be managed by reading his cues and veterinary-prescribed food for constipation (wet and/or dry). Veterinary-prescribed food for constipation (wet and/or dry). Mack is an indoor-only cat, uses his litter box perfectly, keeps himself very well groomed and benefits from frequent brushings, and loves to scratch his litter tracking mat (soft honeycomb style). He is current on his rabies and FVRCP vaccines, microchipped, and prefers not to have his paws touched so lots of treats may help with nail trims. Mack is currently living in San Jose, CA 95127 For more information & an online application go to https://www.peninsulacatworks.org/adoption/cat.php?id=2313 [ts=1793257240&src=rg]

6. Teddy

Senior (9 years 11 months) · Male · Domestic Long Hair / Mixed (long coat) · 18 mi from Union City

MODESTO, CA: Teddy is ready for his forever home where he can enjoy his golden years! This sweet senior boy is just adorable and has tufts of fur between his toes, very cute! He loves people and is good with children, but he doesn't seem to care much about other cats.

Read more about Teddy

Teddy was born in approximately August 2016. He was rescued after
his previous owner never returned to pick
him up from an appointment. Teddy had an eye infection that was actually caused by an infection in some of his teeth. He's had to go back to the veterinarian for many rounds of antibiotics, a mini dental and checkups; now everything appears to be under control.
Teddy
has been neutered and is up to date on his shots.

Teddy is in early kidney failure (
it could be temporary). He drinks and urinates a lot but is eating his renal K/D diet just fine. Over the last two months he has gained weight, so we are very hopeful for his future.

This is a Courtesy Post, and Teddy is with the Cat Network of Stanislaus in Modesto, California. For more information, please contact Monica at adopt@catnetworkofstanislaus.org or 209-735-0604. Visit their website at https://catnetworkofstanislaus.org/.

8. Tvli

Senior · Male · Siamese / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Union City

Meet Tvli (pronounced Tah-lee)
Tvli is a handsome 7-8-year-old boy looking for a quiet, loving forever home where he can truly thrive. He has been a cherished companion for the past four years, but due to unexpected financial hardship and housing insecurity, his family has made the heartbreaking decision to find him a new home.
Tvli has a few ongoing medical needs, including treatment for anxiety, urinary health, and skin allergies. His veterinarian has also recommended that he be the only pet in the home, as living with another cat has contributed to his stress and anxiety. In the right environment, he has every opportunity to be a happy, relaxed companion.
He may be a little shy when you first meet him, but give him some patience and understanding, and you'll gain a loyal best friend.

Read more about Tvli

Once Tvli trusts you, he is incredibly sweet, devoted, and loves being close to his person. A calm home where he can be the center of attention would be his dream. If you have a safe yard or enclosed outdoor space for him to explore, that would be an added bonus.
This decision has been made out of love and with Tvli's best interests at heart. We are hoping to find him the perfect home before we have to consider surrendering him to a shelter.
If you think you could give this wonderful boy the peaceful, loving life he deserves, please reach out to learn more about Tvli.

10. Samba

Senior · Female · Tuxedo / Maine Coon / Mixed · 25 mi from Union City

Samba — Chatty, Affectionate, and Full of Purrsonality Hello there! My name is Samba, and if you're looking for a cat who has something to say, I might be your purrfect match. I'm a beautiful, petite Maine Coon mix with a luxurious long coat, a big personality, and plenty of charm. I weigh about 10 pounds, but I have all the wonderful traits people love about Maine Coons—I'm incredibly people-oriented, communicative, and devoted to my humans. I was originally adopted from Give Me Shelter in 2021, and while my person loves me dearly, he is moving overseas and feels such a big move would be too much for me.

Read more about Samba

So now I'm looking for a new family to love. I'm a wonderfully chatty cat who loves interacting with my people, and I'd be happiest with someone who enjoys carrying on conversations with their feline companion. I have a whole vocabulary of chirps, meows, and commentary, and I'm not shy about using it. I love sunbathing, but don't let my love of sunny naps fool you—I also have a playful side! Wand toys are one of my favorites, and I really enjoy batting around my automatic interactive toy. After a fun play session, you'll usually find me stretched out in a sunny window watching birds, bugs, and all the neighborhood happenings. Most of all, I'm an affectionate girl who loves being close to my people. I'll happily snuggle in bed, curl up beside you on the couch, soak up pets and head scratches, and remind you just how special it is to share your life with a cat. Whether it's a long cuddle session or just a quick scritch on the head, I'm always happy to receive a little love. I eat Hill's Prescription Diet z/d dry food to help keep me feeling my best, and while I don't care much for brushing, I do enjoy being pampered with a grooming glove. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, a playful spirit, and plenty to say, I'd love to meet you. 11. Kyle

Senior · Female · Turkish Van · 16 mi from Union City

Meet Kyle: a 13-year-old Turkish Van whose heart is as striking as her spots. When Kyle decides you're her person, she's all in - nuzzling into you, curling up in your lap, and coming to find you when she wants cuddles and pets. Thirteen years in, she knows exactly who she is: a sweet, devoted companion with a feisty streak.Kyle is what cat people lovingly call spicy. When she's overstimulated or her space is invaded, she'll say so with a scratch or a nip. She's on Prozac and it's helping a lot - she's noticeably gentler, and the scratching and biting are much less frequent. She needs a patient, cat-savvy person who can read her signals and give her room when she asks for it.

Read more about Kyle

In return you get a loyal, affectionate cat who loves deeply on her own terms. Her story is a love story. Kyle was adopted in Atlanta around 2014 by two roommates who fostered her, fell for her one-of-a-kind personality, and made her family. She's been with one of her original adopters ever since, moving from Atlanta to California, San Francisco to San Diego. These days she shares her home with two toddlers, and the noise and chaos of a busy household has become too much for her - she started scratching and biting, sometimes unprovoked, which isn't safe for her or the kids. This is a heartbreaking, loving rehoming, not a bad cat: in a calm environment, her soft side shines.A few important things:- Kyle is FeLV+. It hasn't caused her any medical issues, but she needs to be your only cat, or live only with other FeLV+ cats.- She needs a calm, adult-only home, or one with older children who understand and respect a cat's boundaries. No young children.- She's a senior special-needs girl who deserves a home that treasures her exactly as she is.Kyle is currently living in Palo Alto, CA 94301. If you have a quiet home, a patient heart, and a lap that's going unused, Kyle would love to meet you. Please note:Kyle is a Special Needs cat.Kyle needs a home with no young children.
