1. Polly
Senior · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Snowshoe / Mixed · 5 mi from Daly City

Princess Polly – A Little Fighter with a Whole Lot of Love to Give Hi, I'm Princess Polly! I've had quite the journey, and there was a time when I almost didn't get the chance to tell my story. But thanks to some pretty amazing people who refused to give up on me, I'm here today! My story began when some wonderful people found me lying outside their front door, barely able to move. They brought me inside and tried to help, but I was very sick. They took me to San Francisco Animal Care & Control (SFACC), where I was rushed to the emergency hospital. It turned out I had diabetes and was suffering from a life-threatening condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
Read more about Polly
Thankfully, the doctors stabilized me and started me on insulin. I had a microchip, but sadly, no one came to claim me. And that's when things got really scary. The kind people who found me never forgot about me. They checked with SFACC every single day to see how I was doing. Then came the news no one wanted to hear. If a rescue didn't commit to taking me by the end of the day, I would be euthanized. My finder wasn't about to let that happen without a fight. She reached out to Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue, begging them to help me. They immediately contacted SFACC and asked to review my medical records, which bought me a few precious days. At first, there were concerns that I might need hospice care. But my finder even had her own veterinarian review my records, and the vet believed I had a chance to recover. I was also showing signs of improvement during my time at SFACC. How could anyone give up on me when I was trying so hard to get better? Give Me Shelter decided to give me that chance, and that's how I became Princess Polly! And guess what? Just one week after arriving in foster care, I went to the vet, and my lab values were all within normal range! My blood sugar was still too high, but otherwise, I was doing remarkably well. I wasn't a hospice kitty after all. I was alive, getting stronger, and thriving! I'm one lucky girl to have had so many people advocating for me. Without them, I wouldn't be here today. Now, let me tell you about the real me! I'm a confident, affectionate girl who absolutely loves being loved. Petting is one of my favorite things, and I even have a signature move. When you stop petting me before I'm ready, I'll gently reach out with my paw, grab your hand, and pull it back toward me. That's my way of saying, "Excuse me, I wasn't finished!" It's pretty irresistible, if I do say so myself. I love being part of whatever you're doing, whether that's relaxing on the couch, working at your desk, or just hanging out together. I'm a wonderful companion who enjoys attention, affection, and being close to my people. Now, about my diabetes. I know it might sound intimidating, but I promise I'm a really good patient! I get insulin twice a day, and I'm so easygoing about my injections. I've even worked out a pretty sweet deal with my foster mom. Every time I get my insulin, I get a Churu treat! I know the routine, and I think it's a pretty fair trade. I'm also a champ when it comes to having my blood sugar checked. My foster mom uses a little glucose meter to make sure I'm doing well, and I cooperate like the good girl I am. I do have some funny eating habits. I'm more of a grazer than a finish-my-dinner-in-one-sitting kind of girl. My foster mom is working with me on that because a healthy diet is especially important for my diabetes. I love my treats, especially Churu, dehydrated chicken, and the occasional little bit of crunchy kibble! As for my forever home, I'd be perfectly happy being your one and only princess, but I could also share my kingdom with a mellow kitty friend. I've been through a lot, but none of it has changed my loving personality. I'm a happy, affectionate girl with so much love to give. I just need someone who understands that my diabetes is part of my life and is willing to help me stay healthy. So many people fought to give me a

2. Daisy
Young (5 months 24 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 10 mi from Daly City

Hello guys and gals! My name is Daisy and I am a 6 month old, spayed, currently small-sized, black, female, domestic shorthair kitty cat! I'm a sweet and kind girl who is looking for her forever home to create a beautiful life with. I'm a curious gal who likes to greet people the moment they enter my kitty condo, though I'm not necessarily a social butterfly. I let my inquisitive side lead me while observing and taking in the scenes around me. After my quick inspection, you'll see both my playful and loving side! Some days I'm all about my fave toys and others, I'm happy to just silently chill next to you and receive lots of gentle caresses against my soft fur. I'm kind of the best mix ever, don't you think? If you agree (which I'm sure you do), come on down to the shelter and let's meet so you can see all of my sides manifest in person!

3. Aloisius
Adult (2 years 1 month) · Male · Tabby / Mixed · 14 mi from Daly City

CASTRO VALLEY, CA: ALOISIUS (CP) is just the sweetest boy!! He was a very handsome young tomcat (meaning an adult male cat unneutered, with a big round head), when he was found and rescued as he was walking in an area known for coyotes.
Aloisius is a very tame cat, so it is likely someone was feeding him and tamed him down, but he was not microchipped and his owner could not be located. Aloisius is now safe and cared for in a foster home.
Read more about Aloisius
Aloisius is adorable and a total sweetheart, and he deserves his own loving indoor-only home. It is likely he would get along with children 8 years or older who are gentle and can move more slowly until he adjusts to his new family and environment.
Aloisius would do great in a home with another kitty, but probably not with dogs.
Aloisius was born in approximately September 2024. He is healthy, has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is ready for his forever home!
If you are looking for a great, gentle companion for yourself and maybe your cat, you cannot go wrong with this sweet, precious and very handsome boy!
This is a Courtesy Post, and Aloisius is with Angus & Friends Cat Rescue in Castro Valley, California. For more information, please text Deborah at 510-909-4961. Visit their website at https://angusandfriendscatrescue.com.

16. Meeko
Adult (2 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 10 mi from Daly City

Hello friends, I am Meeko! I am a handsome, two year old, neutered gray tabby domestic short hair who is medium in size and is lookin for his forever home! I'm a sweet boy who can sometimes start off a bit timid as I like to take in all the sights and sounds around me before I can feel comfortable. Once I've settled, you'll see my affectionate and loving side come out as I rub against you for cheek and chin scratches on my adorable, cherub face. You might even find me crawling into your lap for some extra close bonding time. While I love seeking attention, I can also sometimes get a little overstimulated so I'm looking for a family who will understands when I need my space and me-time. Other days, I have a playful side that is itching to come out! I love playing with wand toys and pipe cleaners; it's a great way for me to get my energy out! I enjoy people, but am not always fond of other feline friends so I am looking for a forever home where I can be the only cat. Loud noises can also be a bit much for me so I would also do best in a household with teens and older if children are present. If you think we might be a good match, then come on down to the shelter so we can test out the waters and you can hopefully take me home with you! <3

19. Leo
Adult (7 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 14 mi from Daly City

Leo was rescued from a park in August 2026. He was a young cat with a broken femur, probably from being hit by a car. Leo was a stray/unowned cat according to the neighbors. When we accepted him into our program he had a long road ahead of him. He was facing pain, uncertainty, and a future that no little cat should have to face alone.
But Leo was a fighter! With the help of his amazing veterinary team, he underwent surgery to repair his broken leg. It took time, care, and plenty of love, but this brave boy never gave up.
Read more about Leo
And now, look at him! Leo has healed, his difficult days are behind him, and he is finally ready for the next chapter of his life. No more struggling with an injury. No more uncertainty about what tomorrow will bring. Just the promise of a safe home, a soft bed, full food bowls, and someone who will love him forever.
Leo’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a helping hand and a chance to change a life. Now, this sweet young boy needs one more miracle: a family of his very own.
Could you be the person who gives Leo the happily-ever-after he deserves? Someone to cherish him, spoil him, and make sure he never has to face the world alone again?
Leo was born in approximately October 2019. He has been fixed and is up to date on his shots. Leo would do great with children over 5 years. He has no experience with dogs as far as we know.

I can be a little shy when meeting new people, so I appreciate a gentle approach and a little patience while I get to know you. Once I feel comfortable, my sweet, affectionate personality comes shining through. I absolutely adore pets and attention, and I have so much love to give! I'm a sensitive girl, so unfamiliar sounds and sudden movements can send me looking for a good hiding spot.

And trust me, I'm a professional hider! But with a little patience, some tasty treats, and gentle encouragement, I'll come out to say hello. Once I know I'm safe, my affectionate side really shines. I'm not a particularly high-energy kitty. I'd much rather curl up on your lap or settle into a cozy spot nearby and enjoy your company. I love rubbing my face against you, weaving around your legs, and soaking up all the pets I can get. When I'm feeling especially comfortable, I might even rub my face against yours and give you a few sweet kisses! I'll come when you call my name or pat your lap, too. Did I mention I'm a purring machine? I purr constantly when I'm happy, and I make the sweetest little trills and chirps to let you know how I'm feeling. My dream home would be a calm, quiet place where I can be your one and only kitty. I'd love a patient, understanding person who will give me the time I need to settle in. I also have some skin sensitivities, so I'm on a special novel protein diet that helps keep me comfortable and healthy. Concerned about me being FIV+? Don't be—there's lots of helpful information out there to put your mind at ease. I can live a long, healthy life, meow. If you'd like to learn more, here's a great resource from the Cornell University FIV Guide. I may take a little extra time to trust you, but once I do, you'll have a devoted, affectionate companion who will fill your days with purrs, chirps, and plenty of love. Hi, we’re Seven (calico) and Six (brown tabby) — great names, right?! We are bonded sisters, and we are both polydactyl kitties, which means we have extra toes! Our foster mom describes us as spunky, sweet and clever; and she adds that we love to eat!
We are being fostered with dogs, a cat and small children, and we are all getting along well. We sleep quietly through the night and are very good about using our litter box.
We were born approximately August 13, 2026. We are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. We are good with other cats and gentle children. We can placed as “foster-to-adopt” kittens until we have been fixed.

23. Ollie
Young (4 months 15 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Daly City

Hi, my name is Ollie, and I was rescued after being found all by myself in a parking lot without my mother or siblings. I am a sweet and observant boy. My foster mom says that I'm very calm, and we are working on my confidence. I really like to be in the same room as my human. When people come to my home they always tell me that I have extra-soft fur and pretty eyes. Some people say that I look like a little panther because I’m shiny and graceful!

I love my foster brothers and sisters -- I play with them all the time and we like to give each other baths. I try not to play too rough but I like to run around the family room! I've heard my mom tell people that if my forever home had another cat or two, I would fit in very well.
I was born approximately May 31, 2026. I have been fixed, vaccinated and microchipped, and am ready for my new, loving home!
This is a Courtesy Post, and Ollie is not with Angus & Friends Cat Rescue. He is with an independent rescuer in Alameda County, California. For more information about adopting Ollie, please contact Joanne at 510-303-9719 or at jfkeenan08@gmail.com.

Perhaps we can even snuggle and play together too? :) If you're willing to be patient and also appreciate taking things one step at at time, then come on down to the shelter to learn more about me. <3

30. Faith
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed · 5 mi from Daly City

Mini Mia & Faith – Two Sweethearts, One Special Bond! Hi there! We're Mini Mia and Faith, two adorable kittens with lots of love to give! We were rescued in Fresno, and now we're looking for a forever home where we can stay together. We're the best of friends, and we can't wait to find a family to call our own! We're both affectionate little sweethearts who love being close to our humans. We're friendly with everyone, especially if you have a Churu to share! We have plenty of kitten energy and curiosity, but we're also pretty mellow for kittens. We love being picked up, enjoy cuddles, and will happily snuggle against your legs at night.
Read more about Faith
We're also gentle with our teeth and claws, even when we're having fun. I'm Faith! I'm the fearless little shadow of the duo. I love following my humans around and being involved in whatever they're doing. New places can make me a little nervous at first, but it doesn't take me long to feel right at home. I'm curious, adventurous, and extremely food motivated. Let's just say there's not much I wouldn't do for a tasty treat! And I'm Mini Mia! I'm a little more reserved when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar places, but once I feel comfortable, my sweet and playful personality shines through. I love climbing and exploring high places, and one of my favorite things to do is grab a toy mouse or wand toy and proudly carry it away. I was initially a little unsure about hands, but I've discovered that cuddles are pretty wonderful! I'm also the bigger and very patient sister, especially when Faith decides to flop right on top of me or steal a bite of my food. One of our favorite things is playing together. We love wrestling, chasing each other, and then settling down for a good grooming session. You'll often find us curled up in one adorable puddle of kitten sweetness, fast asleep. We really are the best of buddies! We're a bonded pair and must be adopted together. We bring out the best in each other, and with our affectionate personalities, playful spirits, and love of human companionship, we promise to bring twice the love and twice the fun to our forever home. Could you be the lucky family we've been waiting for? Follow our foster adventures on Instagram: @egwene_al_meow_fosters Rescued in Fresno. Fostered in San Francisco. How to adopt from Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA
When a potential adopter comes into the shelter and sees an animal he or she is interested in adopting, we ask the potential adopter to first complete an Adoption Profile. Then, one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives brings the adopter and animal together in one of our Get Acquainted Rooms. There they have a quiet, private space to get to know each other better. During the visit, the customer service representative may discuss the following: past experiences with animals and current animals in the home lifestyle, including work schedule and the kinds of activities they plan to do with their companion animal housing situation - own or rent, size of yard, etc. In order to make the best match possible for a family and home, we suggest potential adopters bring along all members of the household to meet the new companion animal and bring their current dog(s) to meet a potential dog. Adopters must also be 18 or older.

Adopting a cat in Daly City
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
