Meet Lizzie, a sweet little girl who is discovering more reasons every day to trust the people around her.
Lizzie came to us at about 2 months old with limited experience living indoors. At first, new people and situations made her a little apprehensive, but underneath that cautious exterior was a playful, affectionate kitten just waiting to emerge.
These days, Lizzie is increasingly excited to see her foster family and has even started running up to greet her foster mom when her pen opens for morning playtime. Once she feels comfortable, she is wonderfully sweet, playful, and full of purrs.
But if you really want to see Lizzie light up, introduce her to another cat.

Montgomery is a sweet orange boy who has mastered the art of being playful, snuggly and just a little opinionated.
Montgomery loves people and is always happy to receive some attention. He’ll climb into a lap, settle in for cuddles and happily let you hold him while he takes in the world from a whole new vantage point. One volunteer even discovered that Montgomery makes an excellent slow-dance partner!
Of course, he is still very much a kitten. He enjoys wand toys, exploring his surroundings and finding something fun to do before settling in for his next nap.

Hi, my name is Calypso. I was four months old when I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. Something was wrong with my eyes, they were tiny slits, and I could not see with them. It seems I was born that way, but the rest of me is fine. I had surgery to remove both my eyes, and now I am fully recovered and ready for my forever home. I may be a little timid when I first meet new people, but I like attention and pets. My lack of vision is not slowing me down one bit. I am a very active kitten, and I love to play and run around. I have no any trouble finding my food or my litter box. I just need a home where my things stay in the same place so I can find them. I have lots of love to give, and I hope to find a home soon.

Ralphie has quite the rescue story, and an even better personality!
This handsome young boy was discovered in the Ralphs parking lot in Manhattan Beach during one of our October heat waves. The pavement was so hot that some of his little toe beans had suffered burns. Thankfully, a kindhearted stranger recognized he needed help, brought him somewhere safe, and began searching for someone who could give him a fresh start.
That's how Ralphie found his way to Peter Zippi, and yes, that's how he got his name!
Despite his rocky start, Ralphie is a remarkably confident and easygoing fellow.

Look at this adorable little face!

Sox is a tiny grey kitten with the cutest white blaze on the chest and little white paws.

At just eight weeks old, Sox is understandably a little frightened in the shelter. There was some hissing at first, but once one of our volunteers held this little baby and helped them settle, Sox started purring and then it was time to play!

Hi, my name is Latte. I was eight weeks old when an SBACC volunteer rescued me from the wheel well of a car. After coming to SBACC I went to a foster home with another orphaned kitten. I am a shy but affectionate boy. I will hide when I’m feeling insecure. Once I warm up to my environment I become a sweet and affectionate kitty. I like to play and would love to cuddle up next to you and I purr when I am happy. I never scratch or bite and I am good with other cats and kids! I would do best in a quiet home and with someone with patience who will wait for me to come out of my shell and be the loving kitten that I am.

Hi, my name is Elody. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter when I was about 5-6 weeks old. I had a URI and an eye infection, and my URI turned out to be pneumonia. After lots of antibiotics, both are gone now. One eye is fine, but the other is cloudy and probably always will be. That does not slow me down, and I love to run around and play. I am shy with new people but will become a lovebug once I warm up. I liked the older cats in my foster home and would love a quiet home with another cat. I do not like competing for attention, but I would love to be the center of your world. I will wake you with kisses and pull you in for face nuzzles. I love chasing balls, wand toys, feathers, streamers, or even your sandals! I am a super-active cuddlebug and ready for my forever home. Hi, my name is Udon. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter when I was three months old. One of my front paws was injured. X-rays did not show any breaks, and the vet said it might be nerve damage, so I went to a neurologist. He said it was definitely nerve damage and that maybe I had been hit by a car. He said there was no treatment for it, that physical therapy might or might not help, and that it is best that I not jump from high places or play too rough. I spent some time in a foster home, and I got around just fine; my paw hasn't slowed me down or stopped me from climbing and batting toys around.

Munji is a handsome, confident boy with a big personality, an impressive floofy tail, and plenty to say.
He was found roaming a neighborhood and quickly made it clear that life with people is very familiar to him. He is affectionate, adaptable, talkative, and completely comfortable making himself at home.
Munji settled into foster care quickly and proved to be remarkably comfortable around people, including strangers. In fact, Munji has been known to flop onto his back and fall asleep belly-up not long after someone new walks through the door. Even the vacuum doesn’t faze him.

Panther is a DSH Black kitten who was born on July 3, 2026. He was found alone and had obviously just been born. He was first tube fed and them bottle fed and is now ready to be placed. He loves to play, enjoys pet time, and sleeping with his foster mom under the covers. He's a healthy and happy kitten looking for his forever family.

Westley was found all alone, barely surviving in a parking lot. He was very skinny and scared. Luckily he has discovered that life is worth living and now that he's learned to play, he rarely stops! He's still a bit shy, but he loves to purr, LOVES to be petted, and has the cutest chirpy meow! Westley is ready for his happily ever after with another kitty he can play and snuggle with.

Hi, my name is Quyen. I was all alone and about six weeks old when a dog chased me up a cactus tree. Luckily, someone rescued me and brought me to SBACC, and then I went to a foster home. After about a month, another kitten named Harriet arrived at my foster home, and we became friends and had fun playing together. I may take a while to get comfortable with a new person, but once I get to know you, I will be your companion and will curl up next to you, but probably not in your lap. I slept next to my foster Mom. She says I am very intelligent. I love games and toys. I am a kitten who loves being with another cat, so I really need a home with another kitten or young cat for company.

I went to a foster home where I was treated for intestinal parasites. It took two months, but they are finally all gone. I am kinda shy and timid but am slowly getting a little braver with help from Oso. He arrived at my foster home a few weeks after I did. He is a little younger than me, but he helped me become braver, and we became best buds. Our foster Mom says we truly balance each other out perfectly. We are both SERIOUS foodies and absolutely lose our minds when food is involved! I am not a fan of being held, and would do best in a quiet, child-free home with someone who understands that trust takes time.

I am VERY vocal and have no problem making sure everyone knows when it is mealtime—or when I simply want some attention! I am confident, curious, and comfortable with new people and things. Macho is shy and timid, and I have become his emotional support brother, helping him feel a little braver and more comfortable. Our foster Mom says we truly balance each other out perfectly.

Princess Meghan is a pint-sized package of pure devotion. She firmly believes that personal space is a myth and that she belongs exactly where you are. She is incredibly vocal about her needs, meaning she will happily chirp, trill, and meow to narrate her day or remind you that it is officially cuddle time. Her absolute favorite place in the world? Cuddled right up against your chest, listening to your heartbeat.

I had an upper respiratory infection and very weepy eyes. I am much better now, but my eyes are still a bit weepy, and one is a little cloudy. That does not slow me down at all. I am a playful kitten with lots of energy, but I become a cuddle bug when worn out from playing. I had fun playing with some of the grown-up cats in my foster home. I love the wand toys and like to watch cat games on a phone. I also like to explore my surroundings and check out anything that is new. I would love to go to my forever home with a buddy, since I have a lot of energy to burn with a playmate. I could probably be an only kitten if I get lots of attention and playtime from my family.
