2. Savanah

Young (8 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 12 mi from Walnut Park

On Mother’s Day, Savannah was found on the front stoop of an apartment scared to death. Savanah had made it indoors and into an open mailbox to hide. That’s when the person who found her brought her home.

Read more about Savanah

The first two weeks, Savanah hid in the closet and under her bed. Since then, she has been spending more and more time in the living room with rescuer, the other cats, and a frenchie. She no longer hides! She’s NOT needy at all, doesn’t demand attention, and finally enjoys being pet and purrs easily. She cuddles up on the bed whenever she gets a chance. She’s a very sweet soul! No behavior concerns and is low/mid energy. She spends her time birdwatching from the windowsill. With just a bit of patience and love, she should warm up to any calm and loving home in no time.

This is a courtesy post for Savannah's finder. Please fill out an application if you are interested in adopting her and it will be sent to the finder so she can contact you.

He's shy at first, and needs a patient family who will give him the time to bloom at his own pace. He loves to be petted and is crazy about treats! He'd love to be adopted into a home with his best friend Odysseus or another young kitty he can wrestle and snuggle with.

6. Odysseus

Kitten (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 12 mi from Walnut Park

Handsome kitten Odysseus was found roaming around outside a movie theater all by himself. It took us over a month to track down and catch our little epic adventurer! We were worried that he would be too old to learn to love humans, but he has decided to trade in his life of a wanderer for life as a pampered house cat. He's still a bit shy, but he LOVES being petted and has an amazing purr when you rub his cheeks and ears. He's a very playful and curious boy and would love to be adopted with his best friend Quicksilver or into a home with another young kitty he can snuggle and wrestle with.

9. Lizzie

Kitten · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 13 mi from Walnut Park

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Meet Lizzie, a sweet little girl who is discovering more reasons every day to trust the people around her.
Lizzie came to us at about 2 months old with limited experience living indoors. At first, new people and situations made her a little apprehensive, but underneath that cautious exterior was a playful, affectionate kitten just waiting to emerge.
These days, Lizzie is increasingly excited to see her foster family and has even started running up to greet her foster mom when her pen opens for morning playtime. Once she feels comfortable, she is wonderfully sweet, playful, and full of purrs.
But if you really want to see Lizzie light up, introduce her to another cat.

Read more about Lizzie

She absolutely loves feline companionship and brightens the moment she sees the resident cats in her foster home. Having a friendly young cat in her new home will give Lizzie a playmate, a confidence boost, and a companion to learn and grow alongside.
Lizzie currently tests positive for FIV antibodies. Because she is still very young, antibodies passed from her mother can cause a positive result even when a kitten is not actually infected. She will be retested as she gets older, with her final status determined after those maternal antibodies have had time to disappear. In the meantime, Lizzie is healthy, active, spayed, and thriving.
Lizzie has already come such a long way in a few short weeks, and we think the best is still ahead. With a little patience, lots of play, and a feline friend by her side, this sweet girl is only going to become more confident and loving.

10. Montgomery

Kitten · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 13 mi from Walnut Park

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Montgomery is a sweet orange boy who has mastered the art of being playful, snuggly and just a little opinionated.
Montgomery loves people and is always happy to receive some attention. He’ll climb into a lap, settle in for cuddles and happily let you hold him while he takes in the world from a whole new vantage point. One volunteer even discovered that Montgomery makes an excellent slow-dance partner!
Of course, he is still very much a kitten. He enjoys wand toys, exploring his surroundings and finding something fun to do before settling in for his next nap.

Read more about Montgomery

He can occasionally be a little grumbly when things aren’t going quite the way he had in mind, but that’s simply part of this sensitive orange boy charm.
Montgomery also enjoys the company of other cats. He is currently sharing space with two adult orange cats, Whiskers and Trouble, and seems perfectly happy joining them for naps, visits and the occasional group treat. Seeing the three of them together makes Montgomery look like their miniature counterpart.
Affectionate, playful and easygoing, Montgomery is a little love bug who enjoys both feline companionship and time with his people. We think he’ll make a wonderful addition to a home ready for all the sweetness and personality this orange boy has to offer.

11. Ralphie

Kitten · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 13 mi from Walnut Park

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Ralphie has quite the rescue story, and an even better personality!
This handsome young boy was discovered in the Ralphs parking lot in Manhattan Beach during one of our October heat waves. The pavement was so hot that some of his little toe beans had suffered burns. Thankfully, a kindhearted stranger recognized he needed help, brought him somewhere safe, and began searching for someone who could give him a fresh start.
That's how Ralphie found his way to Peter Zippi, and yes, that's how he got his name!
Despite his rocky start, Ralphie is a remarkably confident and easygoing fellow.

Read more about Ralphie

He settles into new surroundings with ease and seems to approach life with a healthy dose of calm curiosity and enthusiasm.
In fact, Ralphie was ready to introduce himself to the resident cats in his foster home almost immediately! His foster family took things a little more slowly, and now he's beginning to enjoy playtime with their youngest cat.
With his friendly nature and easygoing personality, we suspect Ralphie may have known the comforts of a loving home before his parking lot adventure.
Now he's ready for a permanent home of his own, where he can continue making friends, exploring his surroundings, and enjoying the good life.
Could Ralphie be your new best friend?

Kitten · Male · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat) · 13 mi from Walnut Park

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Munji is a handsome, confident boy with a big personality, an impressive floofy tail, and plenty to say.
He was found roaming a neighborhood and quickly made it clear that life with people is very familiar to him. He is affectionate, adaptable, talkative, and completely comfortable making himself at home.
Munji settled into foster care quickly and proved to be remarkably comfortable around people, including strangers. In fact, Munji has been known to flop onto his back and fall asleep belly-up not long after someone new walks through the door. Even the vacuum doesn’t faze him.

He’s more likely to chase it than run away from it.
He enjoys being near his people and likes to keep tabs on whatever is happening around the house. He’ll follow you from room to room and happily soak up attention.

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Simba is a handsome, friendly boy with a confident personality and an independent streak.
He enjoys people and is absolutely social, but he does not need constant attention to feel secure. Simba is the kind of cat who appreciates companionship while also enjoying his own space and routine. He may be a great fit for someone who wants a friendly adult cat who is not attached at the hip.
In foster care, Simba has shown that he may prefer a calmer environment with fewer cats. He has been living in a busy foster home with multiple feline roommates and has handled many changes, but we think a quieter home may help him truly settle into his best self.
Simba and Alfie spend time together and could be considered as a pair, but Simba may also do well as a single cat with the right person.
Simba is currently being monitored for a stress-related urinary issue.

This handsome tabby boy is about 7 months old and has come a long way since he was first found outdoors. After spending time in a home and learning that people are pretty wonderful, he has blossomed into an affectionate, social kitten who loves being part of the action.
He follows his people around the house, enjoys attention and has earned a reputation as a serious sweetheart. One of his particularly adorable habits is reaching out to “hold hands” with his people.
He also gets along well with other cats and enjoys playing with the cats in his foster home.

19. Maverick

Kitten · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 13 mi from Walnut Park

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Maverick was rescued with his mama and siblings from Hawthorne Auto Square when he was only five or six weeks old. He was always the cautious kitten and much more comfortable with cats than people, so it took him a little longer to figure humans out.
A few months in foster care have made a huge difference. Once too scared to leave his box for days at a time, Maverick now follows his foster mom around the house like a little shadow, naps beside her during the day, slow blinks at her from across the room, and comes over looking for attention and play. He’s even become comfortable being picked up and cuddled by his foster dad.

Read more about Maverick

He may be shy at first, but once he feels safe, he genuinely likes being around his people.
Underneath all that caution was a very sweet little cat who really wanted to be loved—he just needed time to feel safe enough to show it. Now he seeks out affection and happily soaks up pets. He is an incredibly gentle boy, even when he’s frightened.
Maverick is a quiet, easygoing guy who rarely meows, but he makes up for it with a surprisingly loud purr. He loves his toys and will happily entertain himself, but he also likes to initiate play with his people. He’s curious and observant, and his funny, playful side has come out more and more as his confidence has grown.
Maverick loves other cats and would especially enjoy a home with a friendly cat looking for a buddy. A feline friend isn’t required, but it would be a big plus for him. He’s looking for a loving home that can give him a little time to settle in.

Stitch is a gorgeous 3½-year-old tuxedo boy with soft, medium-length fur and a wonderfully affectionate personality.

He currently lives with an older feline “brother” and gets along well with him. With a thoughtful introduction, Stitch may be a good match for a home with another friendly cat.

Adopting a cat in Walnut Park

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
