Hi, my name is Calypso. I was four months old when I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. Something was wrong with my eyes, they were tiny slits, and I could not see with them. It seems I was born that way, but the rest of me is fine. I had surgery to remove both my eyes, and now I am fully recovered and ready for my forever home. I may be a little timid when I first meet new people, but I like attention and pets. My lack of vision is not slowing me down one bit. I am a very active kitten, and I love to play and run around. I have no any trouble finding my food or my litter box. I just need a home where my things stay in the same place so I can find them. I have lots of love to give, and I hope to find a home soon.

In addition to being friendly, I am affectionate and enyoy being held and cuddled. Some people might say I am the purrfect cat, so I expect to find my forever home very, very soon. Hi, my name is Taylor. I was left behind when my person moved, and I spent weeks hanging out in a backyard. She noticed something strange on my nose and was not sure whether it was an injury or an infection, but she did not want it to get worse, so she brought me to SBACC. The vet checked me out and even did a skin biopsy, which showed no parasitic infections, but they said I probably had flea or other insect bites. It is taking me a little while to get used to life at SBACC, and I am just starting to emerge from the cubby that I have been hiding in. I am a really friendly cat, and I like people and pets. I am not looking my best right now because of my nose injury, but it is starting to get better, and I know I will be looking great pretty soon. I am hoping for a forever home before the holidays.

Meet Lovely Lola
Lovely Lola is a beautiful, dainty young girl, only about 10–12 months old, with the sweetest, most gentle personality. She has the most interesting markings…looks like 2 equal size triangles down her sides.
Lola’s story began on a rainy October night in Long Beach, where we found her living underneath a car. She was dirty, hungry and trying to survive on the streets. The moment we opened a can of food, she came running. She ate hungrily, then began rubbing against us as if she knew she had finally found someone who would help her.
Of course, there was no way we could leave her there.
We brought Lola home, gave her a nice warm bath and started giving her the full works — ear cleaning, nail trim, deworming, flea treatment, vaccines and microchipping — getting this little girl healthy, clean and ready for her spay.
And that’s when we discovered just how lovely Lola really is. ❤️
As soon as we brought her home from the vet, Lola began purring and rubbing against us. It almost seemed as though she was thanking us for helping her. After surviving outside in an area where life can be very hard for stray cats, she somehow remained incredibly trusting, affectionate and sweet.
Lola is an absolute love. Just watch her video and you’ll immediately see what we’re talking about. She is a precious, dainty, quiet little girl who will make some very lucky person or family a wonderful companion. She loves affection and will happily shower her person with purrs, rubs and love.
Lola seems comfortable around other cats and dogs. Because she has such a gentle, quieter personality, we think she would be happiest in a relatively calm home without young children, where she can relax, feel safe and blossom.

MEET PEARLY GIRL
Pearly Girl is our newest rescue, and she is an absolute little sweetheart.
This beautiful, dainty white-and-tabby girl is about a year old, with gorgeous green eyes, the prettiest pink nose, and the most adorable little black beauty mark beside her nose. As if she needed anything else to make that little face irresistible!
Pearly Girl came to us when a homeless man who could no longer keep her was about to leave her on the streets. Somehow he found us, and there was simply no way we could turn this sweet girl away.
She is gentle, affectionate, playful, and incredibly loving. She’s a true little lap cat who loves cuddles, curling up beside you, and even burrowing under the covers in bed with you, purring away.

Hi, I’m Eclair! I’m a shy little tuxedo girl, but once you get to know me, I promise I’ll steal your heart! I love playing with other cats, especially my siblings, so having a kitty friend would make me so happy. Treats and snacks are definitely the way to my heart! I’m also quite the talker when I’m hungry, and when I’m not playing or asking for snacks, you can usually find me soaking up the sunshine.

I might need a little time to warm up, but with patience and love, I know I’ll blossom. I’m just a little girl waiting for someone to see how special I am. Could you be my forever family?

After you take a shower, I love to come over and rub against your feet to welcome you back. When you go to sleep, I’ll often curl up on top of your blanket to keep you company. I am quite independent and enjoy having my own space, but whenever I get bored, I’ll come find you and invite you to play.

Hi, my name is Bella. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter and brought to SBACC. It was obvious that I was very pregnant, and I delivered six kittens in my foster home the very next day. Sadly, one of them did not survive, but the other five have grown into happy, healthy kittens and will soon be ready for their forever homes. I took very good care of my kittens, but I am now done with motherhood and ready to be loved and pampered in my own home. My foster Mom says that I am the sweetest cat you will ever meet. I am very vocal and love to chat with my people, always letting you know when I want attention. More than anything, I love curling up in your lap and soaking up all the cuddles I can get. Sox is a tiny grey kitten with the cutest white blaze on the chest and little white paws.

At just eight weeks old, Sox is understandably a little frightened in the shelter. There was some hissing at first, but once one of our volunteers held this little baby and helped them settle, Sox started purring and then it was time to play!

Beautiful Clover has the most gorgeous green eyes, but right now she's feeling a little overwhelmed by shelter life. ❤️

This sweet black-and-white girl was owner surrendered on October 9, and she's understandably a little frightened.

She's going to need someone patient who will give her plenty of time to decompress and settle into a new environment. But we did discover something important about Clover...She LOVES treats!

I am a shy but affectionate boy. I will hide when I’m feeling insecure. Once I warm up to my environment I become a sweet and affectionate kitty. I like to play and would love to cuddle up next to you and I purr when I am happy. I never scratch or bite and I am good with other cats and kids! Hi, my name is Lenore Dove, and I am a survivor. I had been abused, but luckily I was rescued and brought to SBACC. Someone who feeds feral cats found me. I had been dumped in a colony of ferals, and she knew I was in bad shape and did not belong there. I had a severely damaged eye that ruptured and had to be removed, and I had bruising on my abdomen and chest that looked like I had been kicked. I also had sores and scabs on my neck and head. I am a bit shy and timid, but I warm up quickly to quiet, gentle people. The people who care for me at SBACC say I am very sweet. I am hoping to find a home where I will be safe and loved forever and ever.

Hi, my name is Henna. I was rescued from an abandoned property along with my two kittens. They went to a foster home, but I stayed at SBACC. I was not in very good shape. I had a severely damaged eye that had to be removed, and I have a significant head tilt. Some specialists have checked it out, and they think it’s due to an ear infection and some inner ear issues. It might be with me forever. Despite this, I am a very friendly girl and a ball of energy. I am hoping for a forever home, and I would probably do best as an only cat.

Hi, my name is Elody. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter when I was about 5-6 weeks old. I had a URI and an eye infection, and my URI turned out to be pneumonia. After lots of antibiotics, both are gone now. One eye is fine, but the other is cloudy and probably always will be. That does not slow me down, and I love to run around and play. I am shy with new people but will become a lovebug once I warm up. I liked the older cats in my foster home and would love a quiet home with another cat. X-rays did not show any breaks, and the vet said it might be nerve damage, so I went to a neurologist. He said it was definitely nerve damage and that maybe I had been hit by a car. He said there was no treatment for it, that physical therapy might or might not help, and that it is best that I not jump from high places or play too rough. I spent some time in a foster home, and I got around just fine; my paw hasn't slowed me down or stopped me from climbing and batting toys around.
