3. Lizzie

Kitten · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) · 1 mi from Redondo Beach

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Meet Lizzie, a sweet little girl who is discovering more reasons every day to trust the people around her.
Lizzie came to us at about 2 months old with limited experience living indoors. At first, new people and situations made her a little apprehensive, but underneath that cautious exterior was a playful, affectionate kitten just waiting to emerge.
These days, Lizzie is increasingly excited to see her foster family and has even started running up to greet her foster mom when her pen opens for morning playtime. Once she feels comfortable, she is wonderfully sweet, playful, and full of purrs.
But if you really want to see Lizzie light up, introduce her to another cat.

Read more about Lizzie

She absolutely loves feline companionship and brightens the moment she sees the resident cats in her foster home. Having a friendly young cat in her new home will give Lizzie a playmate, a confidence boost, and a companion to learn and grow alongside.
Lizzie currently tests positive for FIV antibodies. Because she is still very young, antibodies passed from her mother can cause a positive result even when a kitten is not actually infected. She will be retested as she gets older, with her final status determined after those maternal antibodies have had time to disappear. In the meantime, Lizzie is healthy, active, spayed, and thriving.
Lizzie has already come such a long way in a few short weeks, and we think the best is still ahead. With a little patience, lots of play, and a feline friend by her side, this sweet girl is only going to become more confident and loving.

4. Montgomery

Kitten · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 1 mi from Redondo Beach

* Available in Shelter for Meet & Greet *
Montgomery is a sweet orange boy who has mastered the art of being playful, snuggly and just a little opinionated.
Montgomery loves people and is always happy to receive some attention. He’ll climb into a lap, settle in for cuddles and happily let you hold him while he takes in the world from a whole new vantage point. One volunteer even discovered that Montgomery makes an excellent slow-dance partner!
Of course, he is still very much a kitten. He enjoys wand toys, exploring his surroundings and finding something fun to do before settling in for his next nap.

Read more about Montgomery

He can occasionally be a little grumbly when things aren’t going quite the way he had in mind, but that’s simply part of this sensitive orange boy charm.
Montgomery also enjoys the company of other cats. He is currently sharing space with two adult orange cats, Whiskers and Trouble, and seems perfectly happy joining them for naps, visits and the occasional group treat. Seeing the three of them together makes Montgomery look like their miniature counterpart.
Affectionate, playful and easygoing, Montgomery is a little love bug who enjoys both feline companionship and time with his people. We think he’ll make a wonderful addition to a home ready for all the sweetness and personality this orange boy has to offer.

5. Kitten Calypso

Kitten (4 months 21 days) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Redondo Beach

Hi, my name is Calypso. I was four months old when I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. Something was wrong with my eyes, they were tiny slits, and I could not see with them. It seems I was born that way, but the rest of me is fine. I had surgery to remove both my eyes, and now I am fully recovered and ready for my forever home. I may be a little timid when I first meet new people, but I like attention and pets. My lack of vision is not slowing me down one bit. I am a very active kitten, and I love to play and run around. I have no any trouble finding my food or my litter box. I just need a home where my things stay in the same place so I can find them. I have lots of love to give, and I hope to find a home soon.

6. Mitzi

Adult (1 year) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Redondo Beach

Hi, my name is Mitzi. I am a very friendly girl, so I think I had a home once. I wandered into a yard, and the lady thought her dogs might hurt me, so she brought me to SBACC. I am a very active cat who still has lots of kitten energy. I love to run around, explore, and play. I am also talkative and will let you know when I want something. In addition to being friendly, I am affectionate and enyoy being held and cuddled. Some people might say I am the purrfect cat, so I expect to find my forever home very, very soon. And, BTW, I am also pretty cute.

7. Taylor

Adult (1 year) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Redondo Beach

Hi, my name is Taylor. I was left behind when my person moved, and I spent weeks hanging out in a backyard. She noticed something strange on my nose and was not sure whether it was an injury or an infection, but she did not want it to get worse, so she brought me to SBACC. The vet checked me out and even did a skin biopsy, which showed no parasitic infections, but they said I probably had flea or other insect bites. It is taking me a little while to get used to life at SBACC, and I am just starting to emerge from the cubby that I have been hiding in. I am a really friendly cat, and I like people and pets. I am not looking my best right now because of my nose injury, but it is starting to get better, and I know I will be looking great pretty soon. I am hoping for a forever home before the holidays.

8. Ralphie

Kitten · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 1 mi from Redondo Beach

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Ralphie has quite the rescue story, and an even better personality!
This handsome young boy was discovered in the Ralphs parking lot in Manhattan Beach during one of our October heat waves. The pavement was so hot that some of his little toe beans had suffered burns. Thankfully, a kindhearted stranger recognized he needed help, brought him somewhere safe, and began searching for someone who could give him a fresh start.
That's how Ralphie found his way to Peter Zippi, and yes, that's how he got his name!
Despite his rocky start, Ralphie is a remarkably confident and easygoing fellow.

Read more about Ralphie

He settles into new surroundings with ease and seems to approach life with a healthy dose of calm curiosity and enthusiasm.
In fact, Ralphie was ready to introduce himself to the resident cats in his foster home almost immediately! His foster family took things a little more slowly, and now he's beginning to enjoy playtime with their youngest cat.
With his friendly nature and easygoing personality, we suspect Ralphie may have known the comforts of a loving home before his parking lot adventure.
Now he's ready for a permanent home of his own, where he can continue making friends, exploring his surroundings, and enjoying the good life.
Could Ralphie be your new best friend?

9. Bella

Adult (5 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Calico / Mixed (medium coat) · 20 mi from Redondo Beach

Hi, my name is Bella. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter and brought to SBACC. It was obvious that I was very pregnant, and I delivered six kittens in my foster home the very next day. Sadly, one of them did not survive, but the other five have grown into happy, healthy kittens and will soon be ready for their forever homes. I took very good care of my kittens, but I am now done with motherhood and ready to be loved and pampered in my own home. My foster Mom says that I am the sweetest cat you will ever meet. I am very vocal and love to chat with my people, always letting you know when I want attention. More than anything, I love curling up in your lap and soaking up all the cuddles I can get. If you are looking for a loving companion who wants to be by your side, I am the perfect lap cat and will happily keep you company every chance I get.

Kitten (3 months 23 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Redondo Beach

Hi, my name is Latte. I was eight weeks old when an SBACC volunteer rescued me from the wheel well of a car. After coming to SBACC I went to a foster home with another orphaned kitten. I am a shy but affectionate boy. I will hide when I’m feeling insecure. Once I warm up to my environment I become a sweet and affectionate kitty. I like to play and would love to cuddle up next to you and I purr when I am happy. I never scratch or bite and I am good with other cats and kids! Adult (5 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Redondo Beach

Hi, my name is Lenore Dove, and I am a survivor. I had been abused, but luckily I was rescued and brought to SBACC. Someone who feeds feral cats found me. I had been dumped in a colony of ferals, and she knew I was in bad shape and did not belong there. I had a severely damaged eye that ruptured and had to be removed, and I had bruising on my abdomen and chest that looked like I had been kicked. I also had sores and scabs on my neck and head. I am a bit shy and timid, but I warm up quickly to quiet, gentle people. The people who care for me at SBACC say I am very sweet. I am hoping to find a home where I will be safe and loved forever and ever.

Hi, my name is Henna. I was rescued from an abandoned property along with my two kittens. They went to a foster home, but I stayed at SBACC. I was not in very good shape. I had a severely damaged eye that had to be removed, and I have a significant head tilt. Some specialists have checked it out, and they think it’s due to an ear infection and some inner ear issues. Hi, my name is Elody. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter when I was about 5-6 weeks old. I had a URI and an eye infection, and my URI turned out to be pneumonia. After lots of antibiotics, both are gone now. One eye is fine, but the other is cloudy and probably always will be. That does not slow me down, and I love to run around and play. I am the shyest of my sibs and slow to warm up to new people. However, once I know I can trust you, I will be by your side, purring. Loud noises and fast movements scare me, but I will come running to play with a wand toy. I love to chase and play with my brothers and with all kinds of toys. This is what my foster Mom says about me. “She makes the cutest little coos when she is happily playing, and she is a little character who knows what she loves and when she wants attention.

Kitten (4 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Redondo Beach

Hi, my name is Udon. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter when I was three months old. One of my front paws was injured. X-rays did not show any breaks, and the vet said it might be nerve damage, so I went to a neurologist. He said it was definitely nerve damage and that maybe I had been hit by a car. He said there was no treatment for it, that physical therapy might or might not help, and that it is best that I not jump from high places or play too rough. I spent some time in a foster home, and I got around just fine; my paw hasn't slowed me down or stopped me from climbing and batting toys around.

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Simba is a handsome, friendly boy with a confident personality and an independent streak.
He enjoys people and is absolutely social, but he does not need constant attention to feel secure. Simba is the kind of cat who appreciates companionship while also enjoying his own space and routine. He may be a great fit for someone who wants a friendly adult cat who is not attached at the hip.
In foster care, Simba has shown that he may prefer a calmer environment with fewer cats. He has been living in a busy foster home with multiple feline roommates and has handled many changes, but we think a quieter home may help him truly settle into his best self.
Simba and Alfie spend time together and could be considered as a pair, but Simba may also do well as a single cat with the right person.
Simba is currently being monitored for a stress-related urinary issue.

Adopting a cat in Redondo Beach

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the cat, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your cat in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior cats are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate cat, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Kittens go quickly, especially in spring and summer. If you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon, and think about adopting two: young cats keep each other company and out of mischief.
