Meet Layla — A Little Heart Full of Love
Hi, I’m Layla, a sweet little girl just waiting for someone to call my own.
I may be a little shy when we first meet, but underneath that reserved exterior is a heart full of love just waiting to blossom. Once I feel safe and know I can trust you, my sweet personality shines through, and you’ll discover that my favorite place in the whole world is right beside you... or even better, curled up in your lap.
Read more about Layla
I’m a cuddly girl who loves human affection and treasures those quiet moments spent close to my favorite person. Your gentle pets, warm hugs, and undivided attention mean the world to me. I don’t need a lot of excitement to be happy. A cozy spot, a little playtime, and someone to love are more than enough. I’m a laid-back little soul with so much love to give.
All I’m missing is my person. Someone who will give me the time to feel safe, the patience to come out of my shell, and the love I’ve been waiting for. In return, I promise to fill your days with soft purrs, cozy cuddles, and the sweetest little companionship.
Could you be the one I’ve been waiting for? I have a whole lot of love tucked inside this tiny heart, and I’m saving it for you.

Born July 2026
Celeste will instantly hook you with her darling fuzzy cheeks & gentle purrs. She is from a litter of lucky polydactyl kittens who all have dazzling personalities.
Celeste and her siblings didn’t always appear so lucky. They were brought to us severely malnourished with terrible respiratory infections & other medical concerns. With weeks of careful monitoring & medications, they recovered beautifully. Of course, our efforts were only half the battle. These brave & determined sweethearts showed tremendous strength & courage throughout.

Celeste is gentle yet very energetic. She enjoys jumping over your legs while you watch your shows and is very respectful of your work. She loves to receive affection & enjoys nap piles with her siblings. The best of times is when you bust out the feather wand though!
Due to her young age, she must be adopted with another kitten if there is not another kitten or very playful young adult in the home.

4. Polly
Senior · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Snowshoe / Mixed · 16 mi from San Mateo

Princess Polly – A Little Fighter with a Whole Lot of Love to Give Hi, I'm Princess Polly! I've had quite the journey, and there was a time when I almost didn't get the chance to tell my story. But thanks to some pretty amazing people who refused to give up on me, I'm here today! My story began when some wonderful people found me lying outside their front door, barely able to move. They brought me inside and tried to help, but I was very sick. They took me to San Francisco Animal Care & Control (SFACC), where I was rushed to the emergency hospital. It turned out I had diabetes and was suffering from a life-threatening condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
Read more about Polly
Thankfully, the doctors stabilized me and started me on insulin. I had a microchip, but sadly, no one came to claim me. And that's when things got really scary. The kind people who found me never forgot about me. They checked with SFACC every single day to see how I was doing. Then came the news no one wanted to hear. If a rescue didn't commit to taking me by the end of the day, I would be euthanized. My finder wasn't about to let that happen without a fight. She reached out to Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue, begging them to help me. They immediately contacted SFACC and asked to review my medical records, which bought me a few precious days. At first, there were concerns that I might need hospice care. But my finder even had her own veterinarian review my records, and the vet believed I had a chance to recover. I was also showing signs of improvement during my time at SFACC. How could anyone give up on me when I was trying so hard to get better? Give Me Shelter decided to give me that chance, and that's how I became Princess Polly! And guess what? Just one week after arriving in foster care, I went to the vet, and my lab values were all within normal range! My blood sugar was still too high, but otherwise, I was doing remarkably well. I wasn't a hospice kitty after all. I was alive, getting stronger, and thriving! I'm one lucky girl to have had so many people advocating for me. Without them, I wouldn't be here today. Now, let me tell you about the real me! I'm a confident, affectionate girl who absolutely loves being loved. Petting is one of my favorite things, and I even have a signature move. When you stop petting me before I'm ready, I'll gently reach out with my paw, grab your hand, and pull it back toward me. That's my way of saying, "Excuse me, I wasn't finished!" It's pretty irresistible, if I do say so myself. I love being part of whatever you're doing, whether that's relaxing on the couch, working at your desk, or just hanging out together. I'm a wonderful companion who enjoys attention, affection, and being close to my people. Now, about my diabetes. I know it might sound intimidating, but I promise I'm a really good patient! I get insulin twice a day, and I'm so easygoing about my injections. I've even worked out a pretty sweet deal with my foster mom. Every time I get my insulin, I get a Churu treat! I know the routine, and I think it's a pretty fair trade. I'm also a champ when it comes to having my blood sugar checked. My foster mom uses a little glucose meter to make sure I'm doing well, and I cooperate like the good girl I am. I do have some funny eating habits. I'm more of a grazer than a finish-my-dinner-in-one-sitting kind of girl. My foster mom is working with me on that because a healthy diet is especially important for my diabetes. I love my treats, especially Churu, dehydrated chicken, and the occasional little bit of crunchy kibble! As for my forever home, I'd be perfectly happy being your one and only princess, but I could also share my kingdom with a mellow kitty friend. I've been through a lot, but none of it has changed my loving personality. I'm a happy, affectionate girl with so much love to give. I just need someone who understands that my diabetes is part of my life and is willing to help me stay healthy. So many people fought to give me a

Together they balance each other perfectly—Wasabi brings the spark and Ebi brings the softness. She adores being held, cradled, and carried around like a baby, and if you let her perch on your shoulders, she’ll happily gnaw on your head in pure contentment.
Tammy is a sweet gray girl with four little white socks, and she has a voice you won't forget. Instead of a regular meow, she chirps like a tiny songbird, one of the most adorable sounds you'll ever hear.

She's playful, but her true love is cuddling. Tammy will happily settle into your lap for hours, purring and making biscuits on you. She's friendly, affectionate, and sweet with everyone she meets.
Good match for: Someone who wants a lap cat and a loving companion who'll greet them with a chirp.
She’s wonderfully laid-back and chill with a playful streak, making her a joy to be around. Tammy gets along great with other cats, kids, and dogs, but she must go home with another playful cat companion—she does best with a feline friend to keep her company and share the fun.

21. Pipa
Young (10 months) · Female · Tabby (short coat) · 17 mi from San Mateo

Meet Pipa – The Mama of Every Heart
If love had a face, it would be Pipa’s. Born 11/25/25
Pipa is, without a doubt, the most loving and gentle foster kitty we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. We have never even heard her hiss! She has the sweetest soul and a heart big enough for absolutely everyone. Every time a new foster kitty arrives, Pipa is right there to welcome them. She is everybody’s mama, and she takes that job very seriously!
Read more about Pipa
She’s the mama to our 110-pound foster dog, the mama to our 15-year-old boy, and the little guardian angel who comes running whenever someone is getting into trouble, as if to say, “Hey, hey! Leave them alone! They didn’t mean it!”
Pipa loves nothing more than cuddling up with her humans for a cozy movie night. She’ll be waiting to greet you when you come home, and wherever you go, you can be sure she’ll want to know what you’re doing. She likes to be part of everything! And don't let all that motherly love fool you — Pipa also loves to play and has a fun, playful side that makes her even more wonderful.
Pipa does have chronic sniffles, which means she’ll likely have some sniffles and sneezes for the rest of her life. It’s simply part of her, and it doesn't take away from the enormous amount of love she has to give.
Now, this special girl deserves something just as beautiful as the love she gives everyone else: a forever family of her very own. A family who will welcome her into their hearts, cherish her gentle nature, enjoy movie-night cuddles, and let her be the loving little mama she was born to be.
If you're looking for a kitty who will greet you at the door, follow you around, keep you company, make you laugh, and fill your home with unconditional love, Pipa might just be your girl.
She has spent so much time being everyone else's mama. Isn't it time someone became hers?
Pipa must be adopted into a home with other kittens or a playful cat. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines.

Despite his young age, Melvin is a calm kitty. He is outgoing and docile and will be a wonderful addition to a family with kids that are 7 years of age or older. We estimate he was born in April 2026. Kitty Bio #3876MB-Me. ▶️ scroll down for clip

23. Leo
Adult (7 years) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 16 mi from San Mateo

Leo was rescued from a park in August 2026. He was a young cat with a broken femur, probably from being hit by a car. Leo was a stray/unowned cat according to the neighbors. When we accepted him into our program he had a long road ahead of him. He was facing pain, uncertainty, and a future that no little cat should have to face alone.
But Leo was a fighter! With the help of his amazing veterinary team, he underwent surgery to repair his broken leg. It took time, care, and plenty of love, but this brave boy never gave up.
Read more about Leo
And now, look at him! Leo has healed, his difficult days are behind him, and he is finally ready for the next chapter of his life. No more struggling with an injury. No more uncertainty about what tomorrow will bring. Just the promise of a safe home, a soft bed, full food bowls, and someone who will love him forever.
Leo’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a helping hand and a chance to change a life. Now, this sweet young boy needs one more miracle: a family of his very own.
Could you be the person who gives Leo the happily-ever-after he deserves? Someone to cherish him, spoil him, and make sure he never has to face the world alone again?
Leo was born in approximately October 2019. He has been fixed and is up to date on his shots. Leo would do great with children over 5 years. He has no experience with dogs as far as we know.
Leo is ready for love. Are you ready for Leo?
This is a Courtesy Post, and Leo is with the Cat Network of Stanislaus in Modesto, California. For more information, please contact Monica at adopt@catnetworkofstanislaus.org or 209-735-0604. Visit their website at https://catnetworkofstanislaus.org/.
Please Note: This cat has not yet been tested for FIV/FeLV, to our knowledge. Potential adopters should confirm the cat’s status with their rescuer and should consult with their veterinarian for recommendations regarding testing.

24. Orange Juice
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair · 21 mi from San Mateo

Like any orange boy, OJ has a penchant for mischief. He's starved for affection, and for food. He'll never say no to wet food, and will immediately sniff out your snacks. Because he's only recently learned to live in a home, OJ has an occasional habit of sometimes urinating on soft surfaces like beds despite being litter box trained. Will need a prepared adopter ready to address this issue if needed. He needs some reassurance and patience, but once he's settled in and gets to know you, he enjoys taking up space on your lap or by your side. Orange Juice (OJ) and his mate Clementine belonged to a small group of sociable stray cats in my neighborhood.
Read more about Orange Juice
They'd sleep and play around the children's playground structure in front of my house. Because the HOA does not allow for residents to be seen feeding them, they were not allowed to stay as community cats and were at risk of having Animal Control being called to capture and likely euthanize them. OJ is likely a father, and has at least 2 other orange kittens that had already been adopted by a fellow neighbor. He'd occasionally go to visit them by peeking through the neighbors screen door. For anybody interested in adopting him - this would be a great friendship opportunity with the other cat owners so that this small group of cats could stay connected. He needs some reassurance and patience, but once he's settled in and gets to know you, he enjoys taking up space on your lap or by your side. Gets along great with other cats, and doesn't enjoy being alone. Orange Juice is currently living in Union City, CA 94587 For more information & an online application go to https://www.peninsulacatworks.org/adoption/cat.php?id=2320 [ts=1793257240&src=rg]

25. Junipurr aka Juni
Adult · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed · 16 mi from San Mateo

Junipurr (Juni) – A Shy Sweetheart with So Much Love to Give Hi there! My name is Junipurr, but you can call me Juni! I'm a sweet, gentle girl with stunning green eyes and a whole lot of love to give. I just need a little time to feel comfortable enough to show you. I was rescued from a feral cat colony in Fresno, and I've come a long way since then! I can be a little shy when meeting new people, so I appreciate a gentle approach and a little patience while I get to know you. Once I feel comfortable, my sweet, affectionate personality comes shining through. I absolutely adore pets and attention, and I have so much love to give! I'm a sensitive girl, so unfamiliar sounds and sudden movements can send me looking for a good hiding spot.

And trust me, I'm a professional hider! But with a little patience, some tasty treats, and gentle encouragement, I'll come out to say hello. Once I know I'm safe, my affectionate side really shines. I'm not a particularly high-energy kitty. I'd much rather curl up on your lap or settle into a cozy spot nearby and enjoy your company. I love rubbing my face against you, weaving around your legs, and soaking up all the pets I can get. When I'm feeling especially comfortable, I might even rub my face against yours and give you a few sweet kisses! I'll come when you call my name or pat your lap, too. Did I mention I'm a purring machine? I purr constantly when I'm happy, and I make the sweetest little trills and chirps to let you know how I'm feeling. My dream home would be a calm, quiet place where I can be your one and only kitty. I'd love a patient, understanding person who will give me the time I need to settle in. I also have some skin sensitivities, so I'm on a special novel protein diet that helps keep me comfortable and healthy. Concerned about me being FIV+? Don't be—there's lots of helpful information out there to put your mind at ease. I can live a long, healthy life, meow. If you'd like to learn more, here's a great resource from the Cornell University FIV Guide. I may take a little extra time to trust you, but once I do, you'll have a devoted, affectionate companion who will fill your days with purrs, chirps, and plenty of love. 28. Teddy
Young (4 months 11 days) · Male · Domestic Medium Hair / Mixed (medium coat) · 18 mi from San Mateo

Teddy’s name describes him perfectly. He’s a sweet, cuddly, loving kitten. He’s always been quick to open up to strangers. He’s confident and loves to explore and play. He loves cuddles, pets, and treats!
Most of the time Teddy’s love language is physical touch, and he’ll choose cuddles over a treat. The rest of the time, he’ll definitely go for the treat!
Read more about Teddy
Teddy has a sister named Tink, whom he loves to play with, and who is also just as loving and loyal. Most kittens from the cat colony Teddy was rescued from tend to be scared and run away, but Teddy has always been curious. The best way to describe his view of the world is rainbows and sunshine, trusting that humans will be good to him.
Teddy is a friendly and independent kitten. He would do well being adopted with his sister Tink or his best buddy Romeo, from another litter.
Teddy was born approximately June 1, 2026. He has been fixed, is litter box trained, has received flea treatment, has been dewormed, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Teddy would do well with gentle children; no dogs please.

Romeo is a very friendly, loving kitten. Don’t let his initial shyness fool you. He loves attention, treats, food, and play time!
Romeo was rescued from a colony where kittens were struggling to survive. Romeo is now doing better than ever, and he has adjusted to his life indoors. He is sweet, enjoys pets and cuddles from humans, and gets along with every kitten he meets! Romeo would do best being adopted with one of his kitten buddies; he is especially close with his best friend Teddy.

30. Faith
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed · 16 mi from San Mateo

Mini Mia & Faith – Two Sweethearts, One Special Bond! Hi there! We're Mini Mia and Faith, two adorable kittens with lots of love to give! We were rescued in Fresno, and now we're looking for a forever home where we can stay together. We're the best of friends, and we can't wait to find a family to call our own! We're both affectionate little sweethearts who love being close to our humans. We're friendly with everyone, especially if you have a Churu to share! We have plenty of kitten energy and curiosity, but we're also pretty mellow for kittens. We love being picked up, enjoy cuddles, and will happily snuggle against your legs at night.
Read more about Faith
We're also gentle with our teeth and claws, even when we're having fun. I'm Faith! I'm the fearless little shadow of the duo. I love following my humans around and being involved in whatever they're doing. New places can make me a little nervous at first, but it doesn't take me long to feel right at home. I'm curious, adventurous, and extremely food motivated. Let's just say there's not much I wouldn't do for a tasty treat! And I'm Mini Mia! I'm a little more reserved when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar places, but once I feel comfortable, my sweet and playful personality shines through. I love climbing and exploring high places, and one of my favorite things to do is grab a toy mouse or wand toy and proudly carry it away. I was initially a little unsure about hands, but I've discovered that cuddles are pretty wonderful! I'm also the bigger and very patient sister, especially when Faith decides to flop right on top of me or steal a bite of my food. One of our favorite things is playing together. We love wrestling, chasing each other, and then settling down for a good grooming session. You'll often find us curled up in one adorable puddle of kitten sweetness, fast asleep. We really are the best of buddies! We're a bonded pair and must be adopted together. We bring out the best in each other, and with our affectionate personalities, playful spirits, and love of human companionship, we promise to bring twice the love and twice the fun to our forever home. Could you be the lucky family we've been waiting for? Follow our foster adventures on Instagram: @egwene_al_meow_fosters Rescued in Fresno. Fostered in San Francisco. Adopting a cat with children in San Mateo
Bring the whole family to meet the cat before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the cat behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the cat come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the cat alone while it's eating, sleeping or using the litter box. Give the cat a high or quiet spot to retreat to.
Relaxed adult cats are often a better match for young children than kittens, which scratch and nip while they play.
