3. Mitzi
Adult (1 year) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Hi, my name is Mitzi. I am a very friendly girl, so I think I had a home once. I wandered into a yard, and the lady thought her dogs might hurt me, so she brought me to SBACC. I am a very active cat who still has lots of kitten energy. I love to run around, explore, and play. I am also talkative and will let you know when I want something. In addition to being friendly, I am affectionate and enyoy being held and cuddled. Some people might say I am the purrfect cat, so I expect to find my forever home very, very soon. And, BTW, I am also pretty cute.

4. Taylor
Adult (1 year) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Hi, my name is Taylor. I was left behind when my person moved, and I spent weeks hanging out in a backyard. She noticed something strange on my nose and was not sure whether it was an injury or an infection, but she did not want it to get worse, so she brought me to SBACC. The vet checked me out and even did a skin biopsy, which showed no parasitic infections, but they said I probably had flea or other insect bites. It is taking me a little while to get used to life at SBACC, and I am just starting to emerge from the cubby that I have been hiding in. I am a really friendly cat, and I like people and pets. I am not looking my best right now because of my nose injury, but it is starting to get better, and I know I will be looking great pretty soon. I am hoping for a forever home before the holidays.

5. Bella
Adult (5 years 2 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Calico / Mixed (medium coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Hi, my name is Bella. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter and brought to SBACC. It was obvious that I was very pregnant, and I delivered six kittens in my foster home the very next day. Sadly, one of them did not survive, but the other five have grown into happy, healthy kittens and will soon be ready for their forever homes. I took very good care of my kittens, but I am now done with motherhood and ready to be loved and pampered in my own home. My foster Mom says that I am the sweetest cat you will ever meet. I am very vocal and love to chat with my people, always letting you know when I want attention. More than anything, I love curling up in your lap and soaking up all the cuddles I can get. If you are looking for a loving companion who wants to be by your side, I am the perfect lap cat and will happily keep you company every chance I get.

6. Lenore Dove
Adult (5 years) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Hi, my name is Lenore Dove, and I am a survivor. I had been abused, but luckily I was rescued and brought to SBACC. Someone who feeds feral cats found me. I had been dumped in a colony of ferals, and she knew I was in bad shape and did not belong there. I had a severely damaged eye that ruptured and had to be removed, and I had bruising on my abdomen and chest that looked like I had been kicked. I also had sores and scabs on my neck and head. I am a bit shy and timid, but I warm up quickly to quiet, gentle people. The people who care for me at SBACC say I am very sweet. I am hoping to find a home where I will be safe and loved forever and ever.

7. Henna
Adult (2 years 1 month) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Tuxedo / Mixed (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Hi, my name is Henna. I was rescued from an abandoned property along with my two kittens. They went to a foster home, but I stayed at SBACC. I was not in very good shape. I had a severely damaged eye that had to be removed, and I have a significant head tilt. Some specialists have checked it out, and they think it’s due to an ear infection and some inner ear issues. It might be with me forever. Despite this, I am a very friendly girl and a ball of energy. I am hoping for a forever home, and I would probably do best as an only cat.

9. Savanah
Young (8 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 14 mi from Torrance

On Mother’s Day, Savannah was found on the front stoop of an apartment scared to death. Savanah had made it indoors and into an open mailbox to hide. That’s when the person who found her brought her home.
Read more about Savanah
The first two weeks, Savanah hid in the closet and under her bed. Since then, she has been spending more and more time in the living room with rescuer, the other cats, and a frenchie. She no longer hides! She’s NOT needy at all, doesn’t demand attention, and finally enjoys being pet and purrs easily. She cuddles up on the bed whenever she gets a chance. She’s a very sweet soul! No behavior concerns and is low/mid energy. She spends her time birdwatching from the windowsill. With just a bit of patience and love, she should warm up to any calm and loving home in no time.
This is a courtesy post for Savannah's finder. Please fill out an application if you are interested in adopting her and it will be sent to the finder so she can contact you.

10. Simba
Adult · Male · Snowshoe / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 3 mi from Torrance

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Simba is a handsome, friendly boy with a confident personality and an independent streak.
He enjoys people and is absolutely social, but he does not need constant attention to feel secure. Simba is the kind of cat who appreciates companionship while also enjoying his own space and routine. He may be a great fit for someone who wants a friendly adult cat who is not attached at the hip.
In foster care, Simba has shown that he may prefer a calmer environment with fewer cats. He has been living in a busy foster home with multiple feline roommates and has handled many changes, but we think a quieter home may help him truly settle into his best self.
Simba and Alfie spend time together and could be considered as a pair, but Simba may also do well as a single cat with the right person.
Simba is currently being monitored for a stress-related urinary issue.
Read more about Simba
Peter Zippi is working with our veterinary team and trying a low-dose medication plan to support him for now. It is very possible his needs may change once he is in a calmer home with fewer cats.
Friendly, confident, and quietly independent, Simba is ready for someone who will appreciate him for exactly who he is

11. Alfie
Adult · Male · Tabby / Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 3 mi from Torrance

* In Foster Care * Meet & Greets by appointment. * Please submit an application online and well call to schedule! *
Alfie is a handsome, social boy with a curious spirit and plenty to say.
His foster describes him as wonderfully chatty, almost like you can have a conversation with him when he is in curious, exploratory mode. Alfie likes being near his people and being part of what is happening, but he is not overly demanding. He has a nice balance of social confidence and independence.
Alfie enjoys exploring, observing, and adding his own commentary along the way. He is the kind of cat who brings personality into a home without needing to be the center of attention every minute.
He has spent time with other cats and may do well with a compatible feline friend.
Read more about Alfie
He and Simba have also shown a nice connection and could be considered together, though Alfie is not dependent on another cat and may also do well as an individual companion.
Curious, conversational, and easy to enjoy, Alfie is a wonderful adult cat for someone who likes a cat with presence, charm, and a little running commentary

13. Kiki
Adult (1 year 7 months) · Female · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Hi, my name is Kiki. I lived in a nice backyard with another cat for some time. The lady fed us and tried to keep us safe. We both had kittens, and she decided we deserved a better life, so she brought us to SBACC. My kittens went to a foster home, and I stayed at SBACC while I waited for a forever home. I am still a little nervous around people, but I am getting more comfortable every day. I enjoy attention and pets, and I get along well with other cats. I am very petite and pretty. I am hoping for a family or a Mom or Dad who will love and cherish me forever.

14. Prince William
Young (3 months 11 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Meet Prince William! This royal little guy is super playful, goofy, and the definition of a fun-loving orange cat. He spends his days living life in the fast lane, wrestling and chasing toys with his siblings from sunrise to sunset. If there’s a crinkle ball to hunt or a feather wand to stalk, Prince William is on the case! When he’s done ruling the playroom, this affectionate boy is ready to settle down for some well-earned chin scratches and purr sessions.
Because he has so much kitten energy and loves social time, it’s recommended Prince William goes to a home with an active playmate (either one of his siblings or another resident cat) and plenty of toys to keep his clever mind busy.
15. Prince Harry
Young (3 months 11 days) · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Meet Prince Harry! Prince Harry is a gentle, introverted soul who prefers life in the quiet lane. He is currently a super shy and timid kitty, but beneath that cautious exterior lies a heart made of absolute gold.
Prince Harry takes a little time to adjust to new faces, but patience is highly rewarded with this sweet boy. Once he realizes he is safe, he absolutely loves gentle pets, chin scratches, and warm cuddles, turning into a total purr machine.
His favorite confidence booster is his brother! Prince Harry loves playing and wrestling with his more outgoing siblings. Because he relies on other felines to feel brave, it’s highly recommended he finds a home with another confident, friendly resident cat (or he can be adopted with a sibling!) to help him navigate the big world and fully find his place.
16. Ashley
Young · Female · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 20 mi from Torrance

20. Carmen
Adult · Female · Domestic Medium Hair (medium coat) · 20 mi from Torrance

Meet Carmen
Carmen first came to us after being abandoned in a duffel bag alongside two different litters of kittens. Still little more than a kitten herself, she raised every one of her babies with patience, devotion, and quiet strength. After giving so much of herself, it should finally be Carmen’s turn to be someone’s whole world.
Read more about Carmen
Sadly, Carmen has been returned to us again. She has now experienced the heartbreak of losing several homes—not because she isn’t loving, but because none of them proved to be the right lifelong fit. This time, we are determined to find someone who truly understands her and is committed to giving her the stability she deserves.
According to her original foster, Carmen is “one of the most loving and affectionate cats she has ever known.” When Carmen feels safe and has a space to call her own, her personality blossoms. She seeks out attention and happily soaks up pets, affection, and companionship. She may not enjoy being picked up, but once you understand and respect her preferences, her love is incredibly genuine and rewarding.
Carmen’s most recent adopter reported some incidents of biting sock-covered feet, as well as grabbing, biting, and wrestling with arms or legs when she became overstimulated. We believe these behaviors may have been related to overzealous play, overstimulation, or redirected energy or aggression—not a lack of affection or an inherently aggressive temperament. They do not erase the deeply loving cat her fosters and volunteers know her to be, but they do mean Carmen needs a calm, patient, cat-savvy person who can recognize her signals, redirect her energy appropriately, respect her boundaries, and give her space when she needs it.
While other cats are not Carmen’s favorite thing, she has peacefully coexisted with cats at the adoption center. We believe she would be happiest as the only cat in her home, where she can relax and enjoy having her person and her space to herself. However, a home with another calm, respectful cat may be considered if the environment and personalities are truly the right fit.
She has also lived peacefully with a calm senior dog who largely ignored her, so she may do well with a similarly quiet, respectful dog who won’t pressure her to interact.
Carmen may not be the right cat for every household—but for the right person, she could be everything. She loves deeply, in her own language and on her own terms, and there is something incredibly special about earning the trust of a cat like her.
After surviving abandonment, raising two litters, and repeatedly losing the homes she thought were forever, Carmen deserves stability. She deserves to be chosen with intention, understood for exactly who she is, and loved for the rest of her life.
She deserves to finally come home.

22. Cal
Young · Male · Domestic Short Hair (short coat) · 20 mi from Torrance

Calypso “Cal”
Meet Cal — a sweet orange tabby with the gentlest soul and, somehow, the patience of a saint.
Cal has been returned twice, alongside his sister, and not because of anything either of them did wrong. His first adoption ended after a major health scare made it clear that his adopter simply wasn’t able to provide the care they needed. His second adopter promised it would be forever — but apparently a new job and a new boyfriend were enough to change those plans. And once again, Cal and his sister were the ones left packing their bags.
Read more about Cal
They deserve so much better. They deserve a home where they are cherished, celebrated, and loved for the incredible cats they are — not treated as disposable when life changes.
Cal is an absolute sweetheart. He’s affectionate, intelligent, gentle, and wonderfully even-tempered. And despite being an orange boy, he manages to keep his orange-boy antics to a minimum. He’s easygoing, social, and just an all-around fantastic guy.
This little lad came from a LARGE brood, born to an amazing mama named Meadow, who did an incredible job raising her babies to be the very best kittens around. Cal loves to play with everyone and is happiest when he gets to be part of the action. He’s the kind of cat who makes life better simply by being in it.
After everything he’s been through, Cal is still sweet. Still trusting. Still ready to love.
Now he just needs someone who will finally make good on the word forever. ❤️
Cal is looking for a loving, committed forever home — one that will stick with him through life’s changes and celebrate him for the wonderful cat he is.
Name: Calypso “Cal”
Personality: Gentle, affectionate, intelligent, playful & easygoing
Looking for: A true forever home
Because Cal shouldn’t have to wonder if he’s finally home. He should know.

Tabitha is a sweet, affectionate girl with a gentle personality and a very loving heart.
She can be a little shy when something is new, but once she feels comfortable, she makes it very clear that she wants love. Tabitha enjoys pets, closeness, and quiet time with her people. Her foster says she will settle in nearby, ask for attention, and purr like she means it.
She is also a wonderful little communicator. Talk to Tabitha and she may meow right back, making her feel less like a cat in the room and more like a tiny companion keeping you company.
Tabitha would do beautifully with someone who appreciates a soft, affectionate adult cat and is willing to let her settle in at her own pace.

Maisie is a beautiful girl with a soft heart and a quiet way of asking to be loved.

Maisie has been through a lot of change recently, so we are looking for a home that will give her a little patience up front and plenty of love once she is ready.

Young (6 months) · Male · Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) · 17 mi from Torrance

Hi, my name is Zulu. My three sibs and I were rescued from a garage when we were four months old. We were dirty, full of fleas, and very scared. We came to SBACC, where we were all cleaned up and defleaed. We are now ready to find our forever homes. We are very playful and curious but still kinda shy with people we do not know. I am the shyest one of my litter. We need each other for comfort, so we really need to go home in pairs. You can see all four of us piled into one cubby in one of the pics.

Hi, my name is Crosby. I had a home and was left behind when my person moved. I was rescued from the roof of a nearby home and brought to SBACC. I was full of fleas and very skinny, with some missing patches of fur and burns on my paw pads. Now that I am safe and getting lots of good food, I feel a lot better. I definitely need to gain a few pounds. Despite all this, I am a sweet, friendly boy who enjoys attention. I hope to find a home where I will be safe and loved forever.

Stitch is a gorgeous 3½-year-old tuxedo boy with soft, medium-length fur and a wonderfully affectionate personality.
Stitch was bottle-fed from birth as part of a litter of six kittens, so he has known the comfort and companionship of people his entire life. He is healthy, neutered, current on his vaccinations, and loves both affection and playtime.
He currently lives with an older feline “brother” and gets along well with him. With a thoughtful introduction, Stitch may be a good match for a home with another friendly cat.

Why adopt an adult cat in Torrance
An adult cat's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are used to family life.
Grown cats are calmer and need less supervision than kittens, which suits people who work long hours or have young children.
